I have a bunch of the smaller ones and a while back I tried starting some seeds in them and had no sucess. The taproot pushed the seed right out the top. I want to try using them again but do not want to waste my time. How well do clones root in these? and has anyone sucessfully started seed in them. If so, do I need to soak them in a mild nute solution prior to cloning or just plug the clone in. Any info on these little buggers would be great. I wanna give hydro a try again ,Nooely style to see if I can improve my yields a bit. Thanks.

Hey happy ,
I use these on a regular basis...yeah I started the same way and ended loosing some good genetics because of it.If you want to start seeds in this medium or anything besides dirt I strongly suggest putting seeds in a damp paper towel in a ziplock or on a plate covered with celophane and put in a warm dark place. After three to seven days the seedling will germinate and break out of its shell...most of the time...sometimes you have to play Dr. and break the outer shell off or pull the seed cover off.after this it can be carefully planted into a oasis cube ,rockwool or any medium being used. These clone wonderfully I get 100% success cloning in oasis. No need to use nutrients for about a week or two . oasis have a mild nutrient already present just add water.I use a rooting gel clonex but olivias cloning gel or any cloning gel will work.Make sure you cut at or below a node because this is were the most cells capable of rooting are located.cut at a 45 ,then shave a lil excess or scrape the stem where you want rooting to take place.... this exposes the cambium layer just under the skin of the stem where roots start. If you plan on growing the clones for a while ...about a week after taking them fill around them with perlite this gives the roots room to grow without being exposed to light and keeps gnats and other pests away while your babies are trying to root......any problems just ask (PM if you want help)

Happyplant, i'm not a big fan of foam for the exact same reason. I haven't used oasis in a few years. I used to take a piece of rockwool and "plug" in into the opening above the seed. I've never used them for clones.......

I pushed her to the bottom nooely and she still came out, and of course I know there is a top and bottom to a seed. The top has stripes on it right, lol j/k;) .
