Hi Members,I just got done 4 days of planting and transplanting only to discover that everyone of my month old girls got eaton??I seen pieces of leaf and some branches and few young tops,my heart dragged as i walked out of my favorite spot,my 5 gallon buckets were above ground and i had stapled bird netting around each one to wooden lathes,i pounded into the ground.I seen a nice round hole tore into the netting just over the top of the bucket,I also noticed as i replanted them with seed there was no root ball from the eaten plant,I am confused,I never had this happen, sure rabbits when they are lower in the ground,or deer take a nibble or two,but the whole plant and root ball,If it were not for the holes in the side of the netting and pieces of leaf i would think i was robbed.I mixed in blood meal and bone meal with wood ashes and a little peatmoss to loosen up my clay loam,I set a live trap and caught a good size raccoon. after all the plants were gone and i used a head of lettuce for bait. I set 2 more leg hold traps and rebaited the live trap.any one have any suggestions as i am planting my last good beans and this is my last chance at this summers grow, and i have plans to use my meds wisely and eat them and hopefully i can just about give up manmade meds completely.peace sincerly E.J

Ive lost 6 to whatever lol this happens early alot. I used to spray vegtable bug spray you can eat the same day on but mostly around plants in a 6 foot circle but dont use once plants start budding. My problem was more deer laying in between my plants and chewing away branches and leaving them on the ground even. Moth balls, deer chaser, shot off shot-gun shells, pepper all only work a short time and they seem to get used to it. Once we put deisel fuel in a circle 10-20 feet around a patch at deer camp and they all made it but its real smelly and kills the weeds. :(

Thanx neohippierevolution and Bigmouth,For just careing i needed that,I can hopefully pull it off yet,I can use chicken wire sprayed green,I should have done that in the first place, hind sight is 20/20 for me,I hate to use poisen or kill any animal,so prevention is the only answer,I know my main pain girls were limited now gone, some sweet dreams,Lionheart, lambsbread x bc skunk and African Queen x NL #5.I have tried all under lights except the later.I had high hopes, some G13 ,Notherern Berry, and a few Temple Indica's,will take their place so one more chance.I love outdoor gardening but never seen my meds completely eaten up roots and all,but think raccoons are related to bears and they eat roots rich in nutrients[bears]why not coons?I had given them all a good watering with advanced nutes thrivealive a seaweed extract with vitamins b1 and b6,gives plants a boost if stressed by enviroment or nutrient defencies, then one watering before the attacks. It is a humbleing experience to lose the medicine to mother natures creatures, and the smell was fairly strong,it seemed to attract the animal,my brother seen a woodchuck near the area, who knows but a wire mesh will fix solve my problem [I Pray]thanx peace sincerly E.J

Thanx swampy,I was thinking that also, useing a light garden powder to mess with their taste buds,i used it for deer, but if it rains it will wash off,so there you need to use a chicken wire wrapped around each plant to protect them untill they grow out of the 4 ft. high mesh most animals leave them alone,or if you can visit them every other day you can keep them away.peace sincerly E.J :)

that really suxes man.

i had a problem like that last summer also.

every day i would find a plant siting on it's side and half the roots where eaten by rabits i guess.

they would eat the roots until the plant fell down on it's side and then just to be pricks they would cut the plant at the bottom so it wouls die,not a leaf missing or anything .

i lost 14 plants out of 25 like that last year.

make you wanna freack right out hey!

anyways i had to put up chicken wire fences and the rest made it ok.

i fell bad for ya and understand your grief hope your luck changes to a more positive outcome ,chow for now my friend.

fishin line will help deter the deere as long as they can't see it.
Urinating as much as possible help for a short time.
Also putting human hair in nylons seems to have a decent effect.
You may find all of the good food you have fed them has an actractive odor and may be partially to blame.

I remember the first time I used Fish emulsions outside H U G E mistake.
every critter in a tri county area was looking for the dinner wagon! lol

If they went more so for the root,
I would take flat chicken wire,
cut in a 2 foot circle
cut a small hole in center and a line leading to it from the edge.
after the plant is xplanted
place the wire deal on the grond and slightly bury it.
when they gotro dig at the roots they will encounter the wire and move on to easier pickings.
More time then not they are just nosey and want to see what is different about that spot .
Coons dig up the root ball satisfy the curiosity and move on.

Evan after they are established, I have seen it in the heat of the summer. That after watering if needed, they are drawn to that spot that is unlike the surrondings. dig it up and presto dead medicine plant :(

Beside chopper Joe Varmits are the biggest problem outdoors.

Thanx people,I really appreciate your thoughts and suggestions,Ever try the Ganjalands 3 month grow guide ojibman?D.L say's to place 2wk old seedlings that have been given 24hrs of light outdoors on june 21st,as the light gets shorter the plants will flower and finish in 3months.I have tried this method by Ganjaland the very first medical grow before i tried the interferon,I ended up with 4 females all different strains, out of 13 beans,3 were males.I averaged about 4-8 ounces of dried bud per plant in 5 gallon buckets.my next batch will be 3wks old when they go out,and around 31/2 months to grow, plus i picked some early maturers.so i should be okay, thanx for the kind thoughts ojibman.peace sincerly E.J :) :D

all I got to say to this thread is this bro's . I lost all of mine too . it never fails when you think you got it secured then something comes along and screws it all up, just like last year , when I thought everything was going good then lightning strikes and then I'm left with little or no plants.oh well we ended up with a decent harvest by fall ,so hopefully we'll do the same this year.......yeah right.

Well lesliechet ,it is not to late for you to fix your problem,on your own.If it was not for me you would not have had any meds last yr.so be thankfull,I am not going to buy the beans start them and for 3-4 wks care for them daily while i take all the risk, then to have you help dig some holes and then give you half of it,no way brother,I am the sick one, your illness is in your head, you gotta have it every day,and you have yet to tell the truth that your hepc viruse is in remmision, and that you suffer none of pain i suffer nor the hardest viruse hepc1a.How many members agree??I been a member here for over 2 yrs,and never asked for anything for free, only you did.Now is a good time to pay back those who have helped you.I know you,all my life you have used me to get what you wanted, but a lot of water has passed under the bridge, and for over 10 yrs you did not even send me one letter, you blamed me for your own bullshit, that i never had anything to do with. Now you expect me to help support you and your wife with my medicine.thanx alot bro.peace and overstanding, sincerly E.J

Nobody's disabilty is more or less important than anyone elses.

As to trapping animals to protect a crop, that is simply bad Karma all around.

"Leg hold taps" are banned in Canada for most animals:
beaver
marten
otter
fisher
ermine
muskrat
badger
coyote
wolf
lynx
bobcat

and yes

racoon.

Come on you 2! I think beings it's started now I think that you need to finish this conversation some where in private. Obviously you both have some hidden frustrations that brought this on other wise nothing would have ever been said. So I suggest you stop before it's to late for repair. Yeah now you both are going to say I don't care! Well not now but you will and you will wished you wouldn't have said what you did because it was out of frustration anyway. ( THis is for the both of you reguardless of who opened their mouth first ) Hang in there you 2 and take a step back and you need to get together here soon and discuss the issues and resolve them. Here in a open forum is not the place for it.

Welllll, I am sorry that EJ has lost his plants, but it is good to read the leslie is in remission. As for the rest of the post's in question comments, I'll leave for you two brothers to work out. I don't see anyone taking sides and we don't want to because we have come to know both of you as family members. Please get this resolved as soon as you can because letting this fester any longer might force you two to say, write and do things that are so hurtful, you may end up in regret. Both of you two, please take care and be well....

sorry fellow members it wont happen again here , I apologise for my anger , I know this is a place of compassion and I do feel embarrassed that my bro had to bring in personal family issues here to TY. all I can do is try better next time and not let my anger spill out into public forum , but I had defend my wife and myself from that form of verbal abuse and I could not stand back and allow my brother to discredit me or my wife in any form. I am truly sorry to all I have offended especially you my brother.
