View Full Version : A big question for Hindu practioners

So I've found myself involved with a young woman of East Indian descent (born in Fiji, imigrated to the US @ age 8) who is Hindu. We hit it off instantly and I'm starting to dig on her as more than a booty call and I think she may feel the same.

I'd love to get a generalized rundown of possible cultural conflicts I might encounter. I know she's an individual just like me and probably practises her faith in her own way and has her own unique sensibilities. I was raised loosly as a christian but for the most part rejected all that in my early teens in favor of contemplating Zen Buddhism. I realy can't call myself a member of any faith but I identify most closely with Zen practioners.

I know there are probably better places on the net to post this question but I can't seem to find any. I hope it dosn't offend.

I once used to go out with a lady of mixed Indian-Fijian descent, except she was Christian so I don't suppose that's much help. Good luck to you PP, hope it works out :)

but, to my knowledge, we have no Hindu practitioners here at TY.

I often use this site lo learn a little bit about another person's belief system. Maybe it will help. http://www.beliefnet.com/

(For those with the time, I found that the 'Belief-O-Matic' quiz on that site is worth doing.)

Hey Raton, I went to the site you mentioned in your last post. I took a test at this site and found out that I am 100% "Unitarian Universalists" and 94% some kind of "Quaker". This is strange as I have never heard of the "Unitarian Universalists" and I can't be a "Quaker" because I don't like rolled oats!

lol

Don't interpret your Belief-O-Matic results with too much gravity.

The percentages you refer to are indicators of the 'combatibility' of your answers with various Spiritual Paths. Many. many people have a high percentage with 'Universal Unitarianism'. If you wish to know more, that is what that site is for. You can read more and find links that will help you to learn.

I have used the links on that site more than once to learn more about my own, or someone else's, Spiritual beliefs. (I did not have a high compatability with Universal Unitarianism, btw.)

as with any religion, practice is individual. there are generalizations, of course, but there is a good chance they dont apply to this individual. maybe you could ask her about it?

I'd love it if people actually read posts before replying. You echoed my exact words.
