we have to write to our mp's in ottawa and reveal the interference that the college of physicians has imparted on our legal, legislated, medical marijuana program.
No one can tell me after these number of years in place that we only have 1200 med users in this whole country? there's probably more than that in my small town of 10,000. the college of physicians is still directing doctors to ignore the MMR program altogether, even with the waiver that the college of physicians produced as a show of good faith in the program, BS.
if we blitze the mp's at the opening of parliament they can't say they didn't know, and the adverse media on the college might make them adjust their program, maybe not, but at least the press will know about it.
I was also informed that email isn't the best way to get your message out to the MP's. they say that for each hand written letter they consider it to be worth a 100 emails and lots of MP's disreguard bulk emails as spam and the assistants repond with form letters in return.
If you want to play a part in this battle, here is a free, painless, no threat method to apply pressure where we need it most.
the blitze will alos coincide with the world marijuana march in may.
so lets go on the attack and match this government move for move, or do nothing, like in the past, and continue hiding in closets while you smoke your meds. of course this isn't targetting the already overworked activists who have been carrying the load for 60 years.
If we don't move on this government, while its in a minority position, we may never get a better chance.
If you have applied to the MMR, and your doctor won't sign, please leave a note so we can get an idea of the numbers just here at TY? I am one and I tried again after the waiver too.
Just do It.

Me too, hollowpoint.
I just had the discussion with my Doctor as well.
In front of the office he came right out and said he couldn't because he could lose his practice. Doctors have been warned by lawyers 'cos you know the health risks and they just might get sued.
I had given him the waiver as well. He was very blunt about the insurance not covering him. So instead he gives me cesamet (Naboline) and wants to put me on Oxicondone.....WTF.....what a jack*ss. That stuff sucks by the way.....:( . He will not put his practice at risk. He did offer to write me a note that says he is aware that I use marijuana for my severe arthritis and fibro plus the connective tissue issue.
So I get all riled and phone Hellth Canada.......Did you know that there are 54 docters signing in Alberta.......Did you know Alberta is the 4th highest province in Dr's signing.
Could have fooled me.....
It is all about big money, guys.
I believe we should start a class action suit.
This is only going to get tougher on us.
I guess doctors would rather have people using pharma's with all their risks, eh..
You are absolutely right Hollowpoint. We need to become the noisy cog.
Together we can make a difference. :D :D :D

I can't get a signature...
I can't even get a dr that is willing to deal with complex medical issues.
We have to get a list of MJ friendly Drs going...

it took me about 5 years to convince my doctors that cannabis was the drug for me. over that 5 years, i had to try every known pharmaceutical product known to have a positive effect on my condition. the last two were marinol and another prescription thc product.
i used to take codeine by the handfull, now i take none. fentanyl patches, never again. morphine, naughta. i once took up to four subcutaneous injections a day at $50 a poke, forgetaboutit!. this was all payed for by the gov of canada with exception of the first $1000, and it was no small amount, up to $30,000 a year.
today, i take robax occasionally, advil occasionally, and i use about a half gram of hash injested orally before bed. i also smoke the odd J, but it doesn't seem to have the same effect as the hashish. total cost to the taxpayer? $0.00.
some advice. always be up front with your doctor about your medical marijuana use. that way, if you do get pinched, you can drag his ass up on the stand and have him tell the jury the real reason why you are before them :)

Count me in.
I called Health Canada and got them to send me their applications as they apply to me and my situation, and they were sent promptly. I then took the time to go over and fill out the entire array of applications I need, and wrote a 3 page, handwritten letter to my Pain Specialist, outlining why I need and want to be on the list of LEGAL medical users.
When the day finally arrived, and I went to my scheduled appointement, we went thru the normal things I always do at the Pain Management Centre, she looked me over, checked my range of motion and then injected me with 12 seperate drugs thru the back of my neck, directly into the two cervical discs that are damaged. After my treatments, I pulled out the large manilla envelope that held my completed applications and asked my Dr. if she had any other patients that used marijuana as treatment for their conditions. I pulled out the applications and asked if she'd sign them so that I too could be a registered medical user. Well, you might have thought I'd pulled out a 10 foot long Boa Constricter! She actually backed off as if she were scared of the papers, immediately saying, "I can't sign those". She then went on to explain that the College of Physicians had ordered her not to. I tried to explain the revamped applications, and the typed release basically ridded her of any responsibility and that the new applications weren't worded like the old ones, that all she was signing was to the fact that I had a spinal injury. She didn't have to "prescribe" the doseage amount any more, just sign stating that I was in severe and chronic pain. No more. Alas, she cited the demands of the C.O.P. (ironic ain't it?) and refused to sign, leaving me just another sick, and illegal marijuana user.
Count me in as a disappointed patient.
IS there an address we can write out letters to? Does anyone know the proper person to write our complaints to, and their mailing addy? That would surely help.
Thanks

start with your mla, continue with a letter to the minister of health, follow up with one to health canada. ALL letters are noticed despite how we may feel ignored. but why stop there, a letter to the editor can't hurt either. and now that your on a letter writing roll just keep pumping them out to senators and mp's and other mla's.
