Canada is going for the three-peat. Canada jumped out to a four-goal lead and then held off a feverish Russian rally for a 4-3 semifinal win Saturday at the IIHF world championship.

We got screwed once again at a European tournament.
No wonder they just awarded Canada pretty much sole possesion of the World Juniors.
All the games are already all sold out in Vancouver.

John D'Amico, a Hall of Fame hockey linesman who officiated close to 2,000 career NHL games, died Sunday.
He was 67.
"John D'Amico brought a passion and dedication to his profession both on the ice as a linesman and later as a supervisor of officials," NHL executive vice-president Jim Gregory said in a media release issued by the NHL on Monday.
"A true testament to John's legacy is the respect that players, general managers, coaches, fellow officials and fans had for him."
D'Amico worked more than two decades as an NHL on-ice official.
The Toronto native began as a referee, officiating his first game on Oct. 12, 1964. He became a linesman later that season – a job he would hold until his on-ice retirement in 1987.
D'Amico moved to the NHL front office as a supervisor of officials following his 23-year officiating career. He was enshrined in the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1993.
In total, D'Amico worked 1,689 regular-season and 247 playoff games.

outspoken Roenick, who publicly said he supported the notion of a salary cap back in February (and later retracted the statement) and was also accused -- along with a handful of other players -- of going behind the union's back to try and get a deal done with league officials in February.
"Everybody out there who calls us spoiled because we play 'a game,' they can all kiss my (butt). They can all kiss my (butt) because we have tried so hard to get this game back on the ice."
