I have read the rules.
My favorite Author is Steven King. He has written a great many books. Some of my favorites are: The Dark Tower Series, The Stand,
The Talisman, The Green Mile. There are many more but the list would go on for ever. I like his writing so much because he takes his reads into other fictional worlds and makes the read feel that they are right there along side of the different characters. The stories full you with suspend and wanting to read father to see what is around the next corner of the story. He is one of the world best writers as anyone can see from the number of books he has written and the amount of them he sells.

***I have read the rules***
Well, I was going to say Stephen King, but since Soulmate took him, I'll be a little different and go with Dean Koontz. I just started reading him a few years ago..3 or 4...and I believe I've read everything he has written also. I view Koontz and King right up there together in their genre, although thankfully they aren't clones and their stories vary greatly. Dean Koonts has that inate ability to draw you into a fairly typical story with typical characters and typical surroundings.....but are they? That seems to be the running theme thru a lot of his books. He's written a battery of books such as, "Watchers," 'Strangers,' 'Whispers', 'Demon Seed', 'Night Chills'. 'Darkfall', 'Shattered', 'The Face of Fear', 'The Bad Place,' and many, many others I won't list...it's just too long. Gotta love those thrilla writers, eh? :D

I really had to give this one some thought as I've read quite a few authors over the years that I could easily consider a favourite, including iconic ones such as Edgar Allen Poe, C.S. Lewis, Joseph Conrad, Charles Dickens, Jules Verne, John Steinbeck...and so on through to J.R.R. Tolkien.
More recent authors such as John Helprin ('A Winter's Tale'), Ken Follett ('Pillar's Of The Earth'), Arthur C Clarke (2001: A Space Odyssey'), Jack Kerouac (On the Road) and Douglas Adams ('Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy'), also stick in my mind.
So to pick an all time favourite author I needed to consider which one stands out by virtue of re-readability, entertainment value and the power to reimport a new and improved perspective on my life. So it is for this reason I've chosen Robert Pirsig just for his 'Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance' which I've found profoundly insightful. It gave me, and continues to give me, a better and deeper appreciation of viewing, living and especially enjoying a modern consumer orientated society without wallowing in negativity and insincerity. I salute Robert Pirsig. (I've read the rules)
