Well, I am finally in the finishing stages of completing my grow room. Here are some pics of my system. This will be my first grow, and I am planning on growing some sweet Blueberries :) . I still have to fit in the air flow system but that is another day. Please send me all of your suggestions!

lookin good so far--u should line the bottom of your closet with white plastic so when u water u dont make a mess--saves carpet and eliminates mold in carpet. Make sure the closet is light proof too.Any light leaks lead to a hard time with a lot of strains. With a 400 mh it will produce a fare amount of heat--so make sure you have an high output on exhaust on top and a low in on the bottom for maxium effeciency air exchange. Plants need fresh air to servive and thrive:) You could even hook up a blower on your hood with a couple of mods and have no heat issues.
How are you going to filter your air during flower? Suggestion is to have an carbon scrubber or two hooked up to your exhaust. Or you can run the scrubber inside the closet--just make sure you have the room for the most part sealed so the smell doesent escape the closet.

Luckily the floor is concrete, so it's not necessary to put down plastic, although, I will be putting some down. The closet is actually on my balcony.

For making the closet light proof, I am going to surround the door frame with cardboard

The heat will be pulled out once I drill 2 holes into the door. The holes will have 2" PVC pipes with 1 going to the top of the door to pull out the hot air (picture a submarine's scope), and 1 will introduce cool air at the bottom of the door. As for the propulsion, I will be using computer fans.

As for the Odor, I'm not really concerned, but I will adjust accordingly if it gets too noticeable. I was planning on putting a In-line filter on the ends of the PVC so that no contaminants could come in. If it does get too bad, I will install some type of scrubber, but my problem is that I have to run off one 15 amp outlet, and I'm not sure if I want to load it up more that the Lamp and Cooling computer fans. I'll have to do a load test to be sure though.

Just how strong is the odor while flowering?

Excellent:)
odor: depends on the strain---but with a good strain-the odor would travel all through you house , to your neighbors and maybe further with no filter. My first grow--i thought it wasent going to be that bad---but man was i wrong-my neighbor came over and asked me if he could have some lol..but i have a kid now and cant chance it -hes 7 and i know kids at that age(big mouth at school)-always asking questions- always curious--always getting into things.ect. so i try to controll my enviroment in my room as much as possiable-yes its a little extra work but im sure you know its worth it.
BTW on a 15 amp you can run a 475cfm blower and the 400watt mh plus another fan easily---BUT CHECK to see what gauge wire is run on your house( i have 6 gauge). Noothing gets hot on that breaker. I also have a 400 mh for the veg cycle w/15 amp breaker so i know from first hand.

The ballast is in with the light...I have a small unit like that and it's very nice. I am interested to hear how this works for you. Pos K sent to you for a nice post.

Well, I picked up the lamp for super cheap, so I am sitting in the hole for about $120 so far.

if the balast is in the light that is going to make the ingarden heat issue a bit higher, especially in the summer. over all tho it looks like a decent space. :)

I also noticed a fire sprinkler in the ceiling. Nice touch!! won't have to worry about a fire getting out of hand in there. :) :D

Good eye! I was pretty stoked when I found it myself. This weekend I'll be building a "table" in it so I can have a separate cloning chamber underneath it. Its going to be tough to make if perfect, but with little bit of ingenuity it will be a perfect grow room. I just hope that my wife doesn't cut my budget!

I'm sure you will find a way to make it right!! Good luck with the wife too! :) :D

Well after extensive structural and load testing, I decided to go back to the drawing board with the grow room. Instead of having the Steel Wire, Pulleys, and Rings connected into the 5X5 blocks, I decided to put up 2X4's on each side to spread out the load across the whole wall.

After finishing up the load points for the Main chamber, I started on the Cloning chamber. Since this is my first grow, I'm waiting to buy the clone lights until I have found a decent mother to clone from. The lighting system will be similar to the main chamber, except for that the light won't be able to move laterally. I wasn't able to finish up the structural portions of the table, but I will post a pic tomorow. Here's what I have finished for tonight:

While I was at home depot today, I bought the rest of my hardware supplies, so I should have everything I need except for the Clone Lights. As always, criticism and suggestions are welcomed!

Well, I finally found the time to finish up the grow room today, so of course here are the pics. I have decided to grow organicly, and follow Soma's methods that you can see over in Potheadpete's thread. Tomorow I need to get the Hydroton, and something similar to "Root Felt" to layer inbetween the plastic chicken wire, and the soil. By the way, does anyone know what Root Felt is? I have searched everywhere and I haven't been able to find it. Oh well. Here are the pics:

I don't think there is a special root felt, it's just regular felt you get at a fabric store by the yard.

rootcloth is just a piece of felt to put in on top of your plastic coated chicken wire and hydroton rocks. It's purpose is to keep your soil from entering into the hydroton clay pebbles below. A nice piece of any sort of felt should do the trick......just stay away from burlap as it may do irreperable damage to your plant's roots!!! Good luck and feel free to ask me any questions you may have as I have been using and UPGRADING this method for over a year now. he he....

If there is one thing that I want to maintain is the cleanliness. Unfortunately, I still have to install my Dayton Exhaust Fan, so I'm going to get a little more drywall dust over everything. Thanks for the comments!

Whats up guys? Well, I am now putting the finishing touches on my grow room. Today I put up a light barrier around the door so no light could escape, and filled in my organic bed with Hydroton, and Plastic Chicken Wire. Here are the Pics:

I added a whole new electical system for my light since my other breaker kept popping with the exhaust fan, and light on at the same time. Along with that, I added my new 265 CFM Hydrofarm fan. Here are the pics:

With a 15 AMP dedicated line for the box using a 400W lamp you still have huge buffer of power to hook up anything you could need. My understanding is that a 15 AMP breaker can handle 1800 watts with head room, using 14/3 wireing max at 100' Shes a nice box.

15 AMP dedicate service to you box will be more than you can use with a 400w lamp. My understanding is that 15 AMPs will handle 1800W using 14/3 wire. most of what you have been planning to introduce to the box is about 5 -9AMPS max. EG: my 440CFM Can-Fan only draws 1.5 AMPS and that is the biggest accessory out side of the lamp that draws much power.
