I'd be interested as well. Our attempts are not doing well. Heady stuff, but the quantity leaves a lot to be desired.

it will be at least one more week before i am able to host grow chat again. i am planning on it tho. I am very busy with my current article and did not plan things with grow chat in mind since chat has been up in the are for so long. hopefully the i will be able to work out my kinks with the chat program by them. Grim said he had no problems running flash chat on firefox but for me it was a nightmare with very little successfull chatting. IE is not an option for me so i will have to keep trying. any advice from other firefox users not having issue with the chat room would be very aprieciated.
since the chat room came back i have also been having trouble getting pages to load so everything is taking longer and is more diffucult right now.

I am currently the primary Grow Chat mod. I guess this might change as I seem unable to use flash chat with firefox. I currently have the time and interest in hosting but if I can't log in I can't host. Sad as I really like hosting Grow Chat.

for the entire time we have had flash chat i have had FF.... but ever since the issues with flash chat started appearing in general they have not gotten any better for FF but seem to be cleared up with IE and other browsers. There is a know issue with FF and flash chat a this point according to admin and the FF people. other chat programs work fine for me.

The problems are FIREFOX and the way it handles it's ADDONS (things like FLASH etc) seems like the FIREFOX people got to smart for their own good and seem to have buggered up a good "attempt" at a great little program (FIREFOX) I will stick with the tried and tested IE. but if PF want's I will switch back to a version of FLASHCHAT that works with FIREFOX, but then that would mean the site going "bye bye" again, as the version that works with FIREFOX is also a version that opens a big security hole...

I am not interested in that. If I need to be replaced because I can nolonger access chat safely then so be it.

pf,
This is probably redundant..but have you installed the latest Adobe Flash Player?
FlashChat requires Flash 7 Player or higher, the latest Player is version 9.0.16.0 www.adobe.com You can also check if it's installed correctly by visiting HERE --
http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/download/triggerpages_mmcom/flash.html
Also there is a few plugins for Firefox that allow you to turn Flash on and off.
( usually: download flash <on off> )
If you have one of those plugins, be sure it's set to allow ShockWave Flash or .swf files.
Hope you get it worked out.

Add...Since my one minute edit ran out...one minute?
Download Controls and AD / SPAM blockers often have a Flash on/off setting.

ok downloaded it and it says it is installed correctly. to no avail. can find any option in either firefox or any of my ad/spyware fighting programs that allows me to turn flash on or off.
I can log into chat but after about 3 min it stops working and then i can't do anything without doing "alt-control-delet" and shooting down firefox this way. successive attempts to log in to chat after this which are too temporally proximate result in successively less successful attempts.

Lets check your connection to make sure they are tight. Then test your connection speed.Just google a speed tester. With the browser I told you about last nite it wont hook up with a slow puter.

Speed
2.7 megabits per second
Communications 2.7 megabits per second
Storage 328.6 kilobytes per second
1MB file download 3.1 seconds
Subjective rating Great
that's what the first connection speed test i could find reported. i told you i have decent connection.

I have done everything that I (and many other technically minded people) can think of and am able to find a solution on this computer. I simply can nolong use flash chat. I would help purchase a new chat client if that were an option. I sincerely love chatting here at TY. It saddens me deeply to be cut out of that part of the community but that appears to be the case for now. Good luck to the new Grow Chat mod whom ever you may be. :)
I do not expect this situation to change until we are no longer using flash chat here at TY.
