As promised in my original intro I have written up a little tale of me. Just alittle of my background and what led me to TY.
A bad back is prbably one of the most painful injuries you could have. I suffer from a slipped disc(due to an injury 6 years ago), degenerating disc, and ciatica. There are days that you wake up and for no reason your whole body hurts. This can last hours or it can last weeks. Then there can be times where for a couple days you have little or no pain. It's very confusing and frustrating. I am at the point where they almost insist on surgery, but hell man I'm 32 year old. I know many people that have lower back surgery and few have been what I would consider sucessful. In very few cases are the people relieved of the pain, and still left mobile and flexible enough to have a normal jobs. Most people I have heard from end up either in more pain than before, or get some pain relief, but lose mobility. I cannot have that.
Being a 32 year old single father, who also helps raise his niece, I cannot afford to be on disability for the rest of my life. I am trying to build a landscaping business(started a few years ago). I do alot of the work myself, especially the mowing as walking at a slow pace has always been beneficial to my back. Should I become unable to do this I could not afford to hire the extra people to pick up the slack I left.
So this leaves me only one option. Keep on swallowing down painkillers and living in pain for a few more years. The bad part is that also suffering from Hepatitus C I worry about what all these medications are doing to my already comprimised liver.
Through all of this there is one medication that I have used for so many different symptoms I cannot possibly list them all here. This medication is Marijuana. Many people use Mj for pain relief, but to be honest it only has mild pain killing effects for me. It does however work outstandingly for inflamation and throbbing(not shooting) pain, in combination with oxycontin. Also marijuana is the only anti-dpressant/anti anxiety medication I use, besides a very occasional Xanax, when thing are really hectic, and I cannot smoke as I regularly do. I have tried numerous different prescription meds for antidepressant/anxiety and all of hem left me feeling like a zombie all day. Kind of in a fog so to speak. The only one that did not cause this is Xanax, but I found that if I take them for more than a few days I get the same effects as the others, the difference is Xanax can be taken as needed and the others are the kind of meds that need to build in your body to work. Marijaunna works better than any of the others and does not give me all those unwanted side effects. Mj works great for these conditions, and many others, but the biggest medical use I have for marijuana is to battle the syptoms of a daily opiate regimen. Between the Hep C and the opiate use I suffer from excrusiation stomach aches, especially in the morning. Also due to the opiate use I get restlessness and sometimes get very egdey. Marijuana is hands down the best medicine avaiable for stomach pains(along with some ginger root and peppermint), and it works great for the other symptoms too.
Well all this medical marijuana use increased the amount I smoked on a regular basis tremendously. Now instead of Mj being a recreational thing that was no big deal to run out of and not have for a few days, it is a necesity. Well I am far from a rich man(pretty poor actually, but trying to change that), and medical grade mj is expensive and hard to find. I was left with one option- grow my own. At first it was cool, but now it seem like daily I get more and more worried about all the consequences if I get caught. This lead me to want to become more aware of what's going on in the fight for legal medical use. Well eventually my quest for info/knowledge led me to the TY website. My hope is that we can get enough responsible medical users to get together and stand up. America needs marijauna law reform, especially in the area of medical use. At least around 1/4 ofthe state have change thier laws allowing for medical use, now it's time for the rest to wake up. Peace
