Grow-ops found in two dozen apartment units
CTV.ca News Staff
Toronto police hauled away $6.5 million worth of plants after discovering marijuana grow-ops in at least 20 separate units of a Jane Street apartment building Thursday.
Officers arrived at the highrise near Sheppard Avenue with five search warrants, but soon realized they needed 17 more.
Police began removing the 300 plants in the afternoon and were still at it hours later. Some of the grow-ops are believed to have been running for almost a year.
Two men face charges, but investigators say more arrests are possible.
City health officials will visit the building Friday to investigate mould and fire hazard concerns.
A separate grow-op was discovered at the same building last year after it caught fire.
