Sad News Today--RIP HCOL

I was just contacted by an old friend's daughter, she had some sad news that really bummed me out. She called to tell me her father passed away today, we all know him here as HCOL. We're good friends, and I'm gonna miss him alot.

My dear friend and a member of the TY family died yesterday of a heart attack and he passed peacefully i was told! I found him to be a Kind, Funny,Helpful, and Smart man who knew alot about many things and i talked for many hours on MSN with him about all sort of things! An avid and great grower and he will be soarly missed!
He is called to the fathers of his fathers and he walks with those who came before us! I will miss him greatly! Wasta Degataga

tears come thinking of him, he always supported me as I supported him, wish I had had the time to make that pumpkin bong for him that he liked. he was the most amazing gardener, I asked him all my not pot grow questions. I'll light a candle to send him off in my thoughts. I don't know what else to say.

He had a greenthumb and loved to keep busy in his greenhouse. A good friend who helped me lots over the years. Been thinking about him all day, especially while gardening, this one's for you bud.

I spoke at length with his daughter on the day after his passing and she stated that he would be cremated and that he would have his favorite greenhouse clothes and some grow in his pocket and that he would be passed into the wind to become a part, Perhaps a part of all our endeavors!
This sad thread truly shows that TY is the place to be for HELP and Caring peps who never forget that we are all here but for a moment! I will miss you degataga!

I recieved an e-mail from H.C.s daughter this A.M and i thought that it may be a good way to see this thread come slowly to an end for our grief and lost but not forgotten H.C! Wasta

Dear Darryl,

Thank you for letting all of Dad's online friends know of his passing.

Today was his memorial. We placed his ashes on the alter along with some flowers and a few of his favorite items. Next to the alter was a collage of photos throughout his life that I put together. He had written "Degataga Standing Together" on a little pink sticky note. I placed this on his collage too with thoughts of you. We received 55 cards, many bouquets of flowers, donations to the Heart & Stroke foundation in his name and lots of food. He wanted everyone to celebrate at the end of his life, not mourn. So that's what we did. A few of us told stories and remembered what he had taught us. Finally we played the song Miles From Nowhere by Cat Stevens at 4:20pm. This is the song he requested be played at his memorial. It was a great party. Now the healing begins...

Thank you again Darryl, for being a friend to my father and for helping us share his memory.
