the u.s. senate approved a bill for u.s. troop withdrawls from iraq to commence OCTOBER 1 / 2007. "and the hell with bush"
GreenDragon, I totally agree!
Problem is that we do not have the votes to override the veto but it sure puts bush in an awefully precarious political spot!
Ah! and yesterday the oversight committee approved a subpeona for Condi Rice...Rove is being investigated for "destruction of government property" for his role in trying to cover his tracks and delete his e-mails; to bad for him that those e-mails are residing on lots of relay servers and we'll see the true light shed soon...bush's house of cards is falling down fast...
Proud Army vet here who never could stand this clueless leader...

yup ex-military here bud. lifetime ago. i follow military.com in the U.S.A. and the UK and CAN. i think that this "bill" may pass. alot of "other party" support and common sense prevails. in any military action where no1 wears an uniform and every1 carries a weapon; its sheer supidity to try to occupy the country. IMHO. havent the usa learned anything from vietnam? on forums all over america; i've asked this question for 3 years and now i see it as common place. the USA defeated saddam's army and should have shot him, then withdrawn to the area's surrounding the oil fields and let nature take its course there. then dealt with the dog fight top authority.
I'd seen something on the news about the troop deployments "increasing" because Bush & co weren't letting troops come home but instead extending their terms of duty. Dirty pool, sending people out to do a nasty job and then telling them they're not allowed to come home.
Kudos to the rest of the US government for overriding that nasty bit of loop-holing.

CAREER? or........... extended tours are a bitch wait till you are caught behind lines and have to walk out like what the americans did to us in vietnam when they had to vacate fast. i dont blame them; we were moving as fast as they were. but we had to WALK. WAR is HELL, and no place for politians. there should be no civilians in an enemy engagement creating rules for war.
