Any recommendations for odor control ?
It's just starting to become a problem ... and I imagine it's just gonna continue to get worse.

thanks for the link rev.
I'm not much on do-it-yourself ... but after pricing filters this looks like a pretty good deal.

I bought a few of each to try out. I think it's all the same stuff. I have just one hanging in a ten by ten room. I find them a low tech and cheap fix. At least for me. I also run a small three year old can charcol filter but these things have made a big difference. Hey, for the price I thought it was worth a try. I'm thinking of replacing the charcol with the rocks in the filter next.

I did'nt see any info on the granular material used in these Gonzo bags on their web pages.

Does the the labelling info mention carbon or zeolite? A similar product of frig odors uses these and also is supposed to stabilize humidity levels. Zeolite looks like Old School kitty litter and if it's mixed with carbon it'll have black/grey bits in it.

If they are using silicate crystals, the grains should look like little balls that are fairly round and spherical in shape.

I've also used carbon based furnace odor filters available at most major home improvement centers. The carbon filter part is only about 1/8th inch thick and lasts about 2 months. One of these placed in front a floor ran can deodorize a 10'x10' room within hours and keep it odor free a couple months. They are a Cut-to-Fit unit that is 25x20 inches and comes with a blue fiberglass filter layer that acts as a pre-filter for the carbon layer.

I got this way back when I first came to TY in 01?-02.:D
So I'm unsure if the links still work or not. PEACE & HEALING

1.I frist have to say this idea came from a few guys over at the CC forums. www.cannabisculture.com (http://www.cannabisculture.com) There are may different ways to put one together I used what I had around to keep cost down. You frist need some ona or similar product. Ona (odor neutralizing agent) does work great and worth the money. You will also need planting gel it goes by different names I used a 1 lbs container of Terra-Sorb. Ona does make it's own gel but it will cost you more.

2.Next get your self a bucket I used a 5 gal bucket but size it for what your useing it for. Then drill some holes around the top. I used a 11/16 spade bit went around the bucket 4 to 6 inches apart and offset anouther row under the frist. Now for the fan most people just buy a fan that has the controls on the fan not the base and remove the base set the fan on top of the bucket. If the fan is smaller they just cut the top of the bucket lid to fit the fan. I used what I had a bathroom exhaust fan. Most people have it set up to draw air into the bucket through the holes drilled but mine brings in air from the top and out the holes both ways work fine, I also used some zip self tapping screws to hold the fan to the lid. Pic is of bottem side of the lid.

3.There are many ways to build your own ona bucket. Even ona it self has made a lid for there gel container that has a fan in it but will run you $130 just for the lid at least thats the cost in grow shops around me. Even a small bowl or cup with gel and ona in a venting system will work for smaller areas.

Mix one cup ona with a cup of water add to the gel and your ready to go. This is a good strating point you can mix stronger or weaker as you need. Useing a larger bucket like a 5 gal you can use more planting gel if needed. I was told 1 lbs will last about 4 week without rechargeing with more water and ona. The gel it self is reuseable it will dry out as it's used but will soak up the new mix when added.
From the CC forum people found it very easy to make as did I and are useing there ona buckets all over. Like around trash waiting to go to the curb, litter boxes, ect.
I know ona can get costly from $18 a gal on up depending where you buy it but a cup every 4 weeks will last a long time. You should be able to put together a set up like this for under $50 even if you had to buy everything outright. Hope this helps some of you.

4.Improvements

Timers work great start out on 15 min every hour and adjust as needed.

I plan on mounting a dimmer switch like used in lighting to the fan to slow it down noise is not a problem but figured energey saveings and lower noise can't hurt.

Well, I decided to go with the gonzo for starters.

I figure if it doesn't do the job I can always use it in the kitchen to get rid of food odors.

ona will work but its really strong..
"Mix one cup ona with a cup of water add to the gel"
eeeeeeeeeeps!

1 cup would probally be enough to suffocate an entire city to death. at high strenghts it can also leave its smell in the plants forever.

use as little as possible to avoid that..
