As can be seen above, the new digital Volcano is here. My question is, will this be bringing down the price of the original anytime soon? They are marketing this one at 498 Euros, which comes up to be $639, $100 more than the original. I sure hope we'll see a drop in price sometime soon!
Hopefully 2nd party sellers will start unloading the original for somewhere under $400, because I still can't justify replacing my vaporwarez box for something that expensive.
Peace
P.S. ignore the new word I made in the title... Its to read Volcano, not "Volcanoe"

Yeah, I'm in the market for the Volcano, or a similarly top-shelf vape, and am very curious which of the two I should choose if I do indeed go for a Volcano.
Money is definitely very tight, but obviously the Digital has many advantages (the five new balloon/valve systems being one of the big ones, but I think you can order those separately?)....
Decisions, decisions. Input anyone? Advice?

It sounds like those wanting to buy the original are in luck.....prices on the Classic might not drop super-fast right off the bat, but eventually I think that the Digit will have to settle into the rough price range of the original and the Classic will be down somewhere around $375-$435. Add $10 for one of the new valve/bag systems and off you go....

the digital readout might not be as effective as one thinks unless they have a way to measure the temp, I beleive the aromed has some type of chip that averages the heat reading to be fairly accuarate. Some digital readouts are just that a readout not exact temp.

I have seen Volcano vaporizers for around $425. I paid $449 US s&h included almost 2 1/2 years ago. I would never even entertain the thought of replacing it for a new one with digital temp. readout. That would be nice, but not worth $100, that is for sure...

IMO - No Way!
There are two caveats I can think of immediately:
1.) You're in a club and share the expense.
2.) You can't administer any other way.
Whatever happened to the good 'ol bong? ...Granted, vapor is smooth, but $600?
Lets get real, people - that's the cost of the mortgage in some homes!

Perhaps you missed it, but the OLD Volcano is now being sold at the Storz and Bickel site for $420 USD!
The new one is $550 usd.
I have a new "DIGI" on the way and will be doing a side by side review at my site shortly...
The exciting thing about the new stuff is the "Easybag System" though, which eliminates the need to tie those durn bags on properly!
Can't wait to check it out!
ps. According to the folks at S & B the new Digital temp dial is MORE accurate than the old Analog one! That should be kewl!
pps. I am also told that the new Easybag" bowl has the ridge already built into it for the oil/liquid pad as well!

Lets get real, people - that's the cost of the mortgage in some homes!
But so is a nice bag of fine MJ. :)
* 1 pc. Volcano Digit hot air generator - Is the hot air generated digitally?
* 5 pc. Easy Valve ballons - What does this mean? Aren't the current valves easy? Doesn't Ballons have two o's
* 1 pc. filling chamber with cap
* 1 pc. normal screen set
* 1 pc. air filter set
* 1 pc. liquid pad - Liquid pad? What's that for?
* 1 pc. cleaning brush
* 1 pc. grinder - OK, I could use a grinder
* 1 pc. operating manual
Digital-Smigital. OK, it is the 21st century, but I was expecting air cars and food in a pill, not everything turning digital. I mean, I had a digital clock back in the 80's. What is it that's supposed to make it special? That it tells you the temp? I like the old-school Volcano, start off at 6, fill two bags, turn it up a notch, fill another, another notch another bag, until it tastes like burnt toenails (Don't ask how I know what burnt toenails taste like, it's not a pretty story....), into the duff can and repeat. I mean if it's not a true technical advancement, then why bother? It sounds like the marketing guys didn't have much to do, so the bugged the crap out of the techs, until they put not one, but two digital readouts on the damn thing, and I bet'cha that it's easy to break.
I mean I love my Volcano, but this version seems to be a bell and whistle instead of a true advancement.

I guess we'll find out the answer to that in Issue #9.....Marco should have a lot to say about the new DIGIT.
I don't know if I'll be able to get one for my own review, but since Marco will have a DIGIT, he'll have that covered. Mostly I just want to cover the fundamental differences between the Volcano system and the others on the market....so either one would suffice for me.
Obviously I'd love to have the DIGIT but hey, beggars can't be choosers.

I LOVE the new attachments! I am not the person that writes reviews on products that job belongs to ZARDOZ.
I got a email from my contact at Storz & Bickel telling me that someone stated that they are the TY review person and wanted a DIGITAL VOLCANO sent to them. Well since I am the Publisher and owner of TY they contacted me to confirm as they already have the TY address for shipping products.
I wish that I had enough Volcano's to pass out to each member here but I DON'T.

Wow! That's awesome. Enjoy it! :-)
You've certainly earned it.
Be sure to let us know how it works for you! :-)
I can use all the information I can get for my Issue #10 article comparing the various vaporizers on the market with one another.

From what I have read Vaporizers are more efficient than burning cannabis, which can destroy THC and other compounds. Vaporizing essentially cooks it at a lower temperature than burning, so you get more THC and the medical compounds, and less of that nasty tar and buildup. I read a study that specifically tested the Volcano to remove 95% of the nasty filth you normally breath in when smoking from a pipe or water bong. I've also read that the water in water pipes and bongs can actually filter out the THC and compounds, making it less efficient.
I'm a nut for efficiency, and even if switching to a Volcano didn't save me money, I'd still want one because they look so damn cool! I can't wait to get my own and have it proudly displayed in my front room :)

I owned both a Classic and a DIGIT side by side for two days till I gave away my classic to another TY member here for Christmas. I think it was worth every penny as within a week I stopped hacking up black sludge from my lungs and now if I have a productive cough it is clean and clear.
The BIGGEST advantage for me with the new DIGIT is that it has an "auto off" feature. For some this may not seem like an advantage but it is a bit of a hydro hog using both a heating element and a motor so when I forget and leave it on overnight I wake up to a hot hot Volcano that no matter what I put in it - it burns my throat. This feature saved me from worrying about a hot Volcano, too much power usage and a possible house fire (poor wiring here)! This one feature alone was worth the extra hundred though for many the Classic is all the Volcano you will ever need.
It definately saves me money as I can use about the same amount of meds in the Volcano as I would smoke and then I have the remainder (Duff) to make food and edibles. You cant survive on just vaping alone as it removes most of the THC but not much of the CBD's (according to an article I read) while also removing harmful pyrenthins (sp?). The CBD's left in the Duff make for a great muscle relaxant or sleep aid when put into a fatty food like peanut butter or chocolate.
There is less of a temp range but I find it IS more accurate and doesnt seem to fluctuate as much. (you could tell the old one got hotter the longer it was on as I could vape out of meds at "3" later in the day what it would take me "6" to take out when it was first turned on). I tend to only vape my meds within a fairly small range anyways as I like it to taste a certain way for my food.
As for the easy bags....you can buy those with the classic as pretty much every seller offers you the choice of solid or easy valve and I choose to have both. I prefer the easy for travelling as it is lighter and more compact. I prefer the solid valve at home for feel and construction and the lower cost and flexibility of bag size.
Hope this helps. If I missed anything ask again.

The only way I could ever justify spending that kind of bread$$ on a marijuana using peice I would have to try before I buy.I have only vaped a few times and that was with a Vapir Nicohale version. It only worked well with hash. With weed it didnt do a thing for me,zero. So Id hate to spend 5 bills and it not be what I need or expect.I wish someone near me had one I could just try.I'm so used to smoking pipes that Im wary of it working as well.Peace and enjoy your Volcanos you lucky dogs-BigD

Yeah, those digital units are something else, but the older models are really coming down in price right now, so I would probably go for that deal, if I didn't already have one. They last forever.

I like the idea of the auto shutoff on the digi volcano, I don't think anything with a heating element should be left on unintentionally. But then the coffeeshops in Amsterdam would argue that they leave their volcanoes on for every minute of every day their shop is open, with no ill effects to the volcanoes.(there's an auto shutoff override, press the 4 control buttons at the same time your friend plugs in the volcano)
I like the easy valve for ease of use and even more for the wider base which allows more even and complete vaping, the wider screen lets you use the same amount of herb, spreading it out a bit more, and isn't as thick.
I'm still using my old volcano, about 3 years old now, and really notice how much faster the newer models (both digi and original) fill the bags.
All the volcanoes are great, my old beater has been around, taken a fall and vaped us all, and it still works! (with a few minor at home adjustments) I gotta do a 'how to take your volcano apart' thread some day. (Take apart without removing the control knob on the original volcanoes, and putting it back together successfully)

Hashi sez... "I gotta do a 'how to take your volcano apart' thread some day. (Take apart without removing the control knob on the original volcanoes, and putting it back together successfully)"
Please, please, please do this at your soonest opportunity...I would love to see the innards of a Volcano! Have to say I am really enjoying my old school Volcano. I've been vaping for the past year and a half (So many thanks to MR and the TY gang). However, I understand that there may be a couple of easy fixes, to be done on the inside, that may improve the time it takes to inflate the balloon...
C'mon Hashimoto...u can doooo it!
thanks

I can do that , but will need a couple days to get a video cam, be much easier. The modification I had to do wasn't anything for the inflation of the bag though. It was the temperature arm that needed adjustment after it got knocked on the floor.
I'll post soon showing how to open yours in case of emergencies.

Maybee as some fortunate people are able to upgrade their Volcano's they can offer their used analog units to members in need?

This has been done on several occassions. When ever TY gets a NEW Volcano to review our review person give the older unit to a med patient in need. Now we have also been giving away all the vaporizers that we have reviewed to med patients but we have had to limit it to folks living in Canada as we DON'T want to take a chance with customs because of residue.

This is something anybody should consider if you are selling a used vaporizer, DON'T SHIP IT ACROSS BORDERS! Doesn't matter how clean you might think it is, if a trained dog takes a sniff he'll know what it has been used for.

If you check through the posts you will see that members have also donated what they can. When I got my new Volcano Digit my Classic went to another member here in great need due to his personal circumstances.
I help when I can whomever I can. I dont have much - but what I have is to be shared. I always give away any items I get that I dont need.
I am very grateful for this site to bring us together and for the wonderful friends I have made here that have made such a difference in my life. We can all help eachother in so many ways when we make the time.
:) The generousity and friendship of TY folks can't be surpassed.

Does anyone know if this is true about most of the CBD being left in?
I am a mostly indica user and i have recently purchased a volcano... i havent noticed a lack of cbd, but who knows.....

So would I, I have Crohn's disease and need the CBDs. I'm also curious how efficient a Volcano is. I'm in Cali dealing with the crazy prices in the clubs and couldn't afford it if it wasn't very efficient. The web site says it is, but I need to hear some personal experience! :)

in order to clear things up but have been unable to re-access this. I am also going on assumptions from personal use. I feel that I dont get enough body pain releif from just vaping alone. I can vape for days and then I will get a rebound pain until I smoke some. I also eat and take Cesamet so I get large doses of CBD's alone from my pills and I am certain that you can get the balance of CBD's back by merely eating your Duff that you produce. The Duff tastes more pleasant than plain pot anyways as it has a nuttier flavour which is better for my Crohns.
Hope this helps.

I thought that Cesamet was a synthetic copy of THC? Are u saying that there is synthetic CBDs in it?

Cesamet has NO THC !!!! None - zero zip zilch!!! Cesamet is ONLY Cannabidiol. It can cause heavy sedation and really serious clumsiness till you become more used to its effects and (I believe) high doses guarantee that you will no longer get high from smoked, vaped or eaten cannabis. Before I took Cesamet in such high doses I would get the occasional buzz - even if it was only a peaceful feeling that only lasted for ten minutes it was nice - since I got over 3 mg a day of this pill I have never been high since. I use as much as 10 - 15 grams daily to control pain, naseau, anxiety and rage. I take 4mg of Cesamet daily at a cost of well over 1000 a month.
Sativex is the only drug in Canada with any THC and it is very VERY low. It is only a 2.7% and 3.4% of THC and CBD's respectively. It comes in a can that meters out sprayed doses - only 50 per can. I paid over 250 per can and it is still considered experimental and not covered by any health plan or Trillium Health. Even though approved for MS there is not one person that will pay for this unless your Dr can make a successful application for a compassionate source directly from the Pharmaceutical company.
Cesamet has been known to make some people very very sick as it controls emisis and NOT naseau. :) Hope this clears things up.
smokeskunk420

That is interesting because on cesamet's website it says that it is a copy of delta-9 THC.
It also it says that it is used mainly for naseau.
Wikipedia also says it contains THC, and the picture of the chemical structure is the same as THC's.
Just thought u might wanna check it out....

my product insert from the pharmacy does not bear this out. I am medically trained so now I am just plain confused if it is on the pharma website- though personally I dont trust Wikipedia as any source of information - I once had a personal trainer try to teach us about muscles from something from there and it was COMPLETELY wrong!!!
