I use to be a geek, now I just drool on my shirt.
I got my wife a laptop, until I hook up a wireless connection (Next Month), I'd like her to be able to get some of her files off of my computer.
So I dug out a RJ45 male/male LAN cable out of the shed, hooked it up and ran the Microsoft Network Setup Wizard on both computers, giving them both the same workgroup name and everything.
When the computers try and connect, after the 'Acquiring network address' I get an "This connection has limited or no connectivity..............."
It says that the problem occurred because the network do not assign a network address to the computer.
At this point I'm clueless.
What do I have to do to have these two computers talk to each other?
Thanks for any help offered.

If you are connecting them together directly, without a router or switch in between them, you need a "crossover cable". It is a network cable with a few of the wires switched around. You can buy these anywhere that computer parts are sold.
