Pistilicious! Lots of globes all over those leaves. They look pretty good to me. Great work on your fine ladies!
How is aeroponic cloning going? Have you cloned a clone yet?
Something I have found from my aeroponic cloning... If I wait until my clones are a bit extra mature in the areocloner, they seem to thrive and bud better than a clone that was vegged "as soon as it was ready". I move them to flower at the same height but the longer vegged clones (they are virtual hydro plants at that point) just ultimately seem to grow better.
If I let the clone veg a bit "extra long" in the aerocloner, it gets like a mini-veg plant with several nodes but somewhat small in dimension. The root system gets very mature and long and it is like a little hydro plant, as mentioned.
Ways I use to slow the clone growth and promote this effect are to addback water at a slightly out of range ph (high is what I use - tap water). This seems to grow a stunted *looking* clone with a really good root system. Once moved into normal veg, the root system seems to kick it into growth overdrive.
Don't take my word for it, as these are just my oberservations... but I want to let you know what I have seen (with our exact same brand aerocloner), so you can try different stuff. Let me know how it goes and if you are learning anything I can use too! ;)
:D
Keep those plant pics coming!!!

Wheels keep turning! And after too long an absence I am growing again. This time round will be wwxkm, wwxTYmango and mystery seeds that some (great) generous person left at the MMM. If I can remember, I'll try to keep the pics in this order too :p The wwxTYmango and mystery popped after 3 days and the wwxkm (no pic) after 4 days. I use a sprouter to start the seeds, and then transfer to soil.
green girl
12-15-2005, 04:47 PM
I started with 2 2ft 20w bulbs. The seeds stretched due to not enough light, but it happened cause of people being in the house. Once I moved them to 6 2ft 20w they are rowing better. They'll all need staking now
green girl
12-15-2005, 04:50 PM
The plants are trying to grow nodes on top of each other to make up for the stretching!
green girl
12-15-2005, 04:54 PM
At the third node everything got pruned.
pflover
12-15-2005, 04:57 PM

12-15-2005, 05:12 PM
very nice GG! that's a whole lotta plants you got there
green girl
12-15-2005, 05:23 PM
Specifics? This is why I mark my labels when I prune! :D I pruned off the second node as it was coming in on one plant of each of the the seeds. It was too soon and I fim'ed them all :p Then I pinched off the third node that was coming out of the rest
green girl
12-15-2005, 05:25 PM
Thanks Rev, but there can be only 4. And I expect at least a third will be male! The plants are all growing pretty evenly, but as soon as I can spot the runts of the litter, I'll be eyeing them.
green girl
12-18-2005, 11:17 PM
The good news is I can't spot the runt of the litter yet! The plants have all taken to the branching. They have been under lights for 25 days now. Another month of veg, and we'll look at how tall they are. To keep the plants in even puffballs the bending will begin. There will be some pinching happening to keep the plants growing in balance, and then to take clones before flowering.

I have a question Green Girl , when you say pruned is topping in the second node and they where started from seeds, i thought it had to be in the third node , i have learned something new today , thanks alot .
Sincerely ///////////////
green girl
12-26-2005, 02:50 PM
I tried 3 of my plants at the second node. But! It was probably too early. The third node splits all took (and since I haven't always been precise :p Third Node - I left the cotlydons and the first set of true leaves and I pinched the third set of leaves coming in!).
One of the second node plants didn't split axialy, it did branch all over and I'm bending the stem down.
The trouble might have been the original stretching. The second nodes came in on top of the first set of leaves, and I ended up fimming with mutant leaf parts still growing!
The spots where I first pinched mostly grew 2 stems and many kept pushing a leaf spike from the tops of the plants. On the ones where 2 stems were growing out I also pinched the second and/or third nodes that were growing out from those split stems. Mostly second nodes, but some of the plants were growing fast and it was the third.
I've been bending the branches down with twist ties, to encourage the plant to grow a little outwards. This particular tokiary stuff works really with seeds because of the axial splits. When I pinch back a clone it doesn't always split, sometimes it just thickens up the branches and then keeps growing!

Maybe the Mystery will be solved when someone in the know smokes it and says, "Aha!" and then reveals what the mystery is! :p And then sometimes a little mystery in our lives is a good thing.
Thanks manny_t, baked and GM! Its a lot of fun growing. And its amazing that this batch have kept going all at about the same pace. I have to reduce the numbers, but the plants themselves are making that chore extremely hard!
Mystery Plants: I haven't grown out many indicas! Actually, only NL. Everything else tends to be mixes. The leaf edges don't overlap at the bottom of the leaf stem like the NL ones did, but they are exploding out of the plant. It smells nice too, not quite musky, but something heavyish.

Yup CE, :D I'm into bondage. I like to torture plants. I think they like it too.
Yrek, its not too cold, it doesn't go below 20C. I think the pic is misleading. The plant is more of a bottle green than purple.
The male has been collared. I think these plants are autoflowering, the male just keeps growing and I'm running 18/6 right now. I'm watching this boy daily now.

do you find you get more production per sq ft to leave them all bunchy and bushy like that instead of spreading them out?
lol i am on a quest to find the perfect balance between spreading plants full out and letting them bush when it comes to production level.
green girl
02-08-2006, 06:27 PM
They are too bunched in, but I'm weeding out the males as quick as I can! I like 4 in my space (2x4x3), and I'm still at 7  This is a quicker grow because I'm running out. I won't even get to 5 gallon pots, just 3 gallons.
And (wah wah) it turns out sharing files in chat isn't working right either.
pflover
02-08-2006, 07:06 PM
why are you not transplanting to 5 gal? this can happen as late as week 3 of bud and still have a lot of benefit.
green girl
02-09-2006, 08:12 AM
I'm in 8"/1.5 gallon pots and 10"/3 gallon pots, is what I am going to move to. They aren't really rootbound yet and I can use less soil this way. And I can fit more in together in the smaller pots if I can find more than 5 females! The autoflowering mystery seeds are putting on bud more quickly than the others, I think they will be ready sooner so probably growing less root.
I really prefer replanting in small increments so I'm not overwatering a tiny plant with a small root structure in a huge pot. But I argue the same as you, bigger is better for the plant in the end! You and I have convinced me!
I usually replant just before flowering and the wwxkm I know is female will do very well in 12"/5 gallon, so I think I will!
green girl
02-11-2006, 09:03 AM
Update - 3 of 5 mystery are female and buding up quite gratifyingly. 1 of the each of the wwxkm and wwxmango are female. They are both still pushing out initial hairs, yay all over! I have my lineup, and the males are all hanging to dry. I'll make butter soon :) The wwwx km, wwxmango and 1 of the mystery plants will end up in 5 gal pots, 1 mystery will be in a 3 gal pot, and the smallest mystery is in a 1.5 gal pot and doing well (yippe harvest the bonsai plant first. :D

The best laid plans! Well, I planned for 12"-5 gallon pots but only the wwxkm was planted in it! Turns out the rest of the plants didn't have huge root structures, so they made it into 10"-3 gallon pots.
Here is the latest wwxkm pics update

looking good. i'm surprised that you leave such a deep, dense dark canpopy tho. don't you think you would get a better yield if the light got to those lower buds better? oh wait, i just remember you do multiple yields. :D now it makes more sense.
anyway, looking really good. :)

Thanks Otter, anon and pf!
Otter, I use ferts from the hardware store. I mix the 2 up to get a fert that is 22.5-20-12.5. I use a solution of 2/3 water, 1/3 water&fert mix every other watering to start and after the plants are a foot high, ferts&water every watering. And this is an average. Adding ferts in this garden ends up being a bit of an art, rather than a specifically measured science. Look at the plants, and and mix up the water according to what you see...
Its been 21 days of flowering. I expect at least another 3 weeks of growth before we even start to think about harvesting, so I will be stopping ferts in 2-3 weeks, and just using water. And love.
Been using these particular ones for a couple of years now!

Thanks twista and Opus! I'm just finishing the 5th week and today starts the 6th week of flowering. Chuggga Chugging along :D
The mystery seeds are coming along very nicely. I think they are ready for an intial topping, which is good, thank goodness! They still smell very nice (initially like orange blossoms), but its hard to isolate one smell in the room right now. Trimming in a separate room will give a chance to experienice the smell.

Wow! Hey gen, Crazy Eagle, VT and Pete, thanks for coming round :) Well I harvested my littlest plant in the room - MysteryE. This plant was definately the minature plant of the bunch. She just didn't grow either roots or branches the same way the others did, but she is a very compact version of the same plants. Planted on Nov 24th and vegged for 69 days and flowered for 33 days (since Jan 31st). I'm hoping to see 1/2 an oz dry from this plant. The trim will be dried for bubble and butter. Its fun to get the chance to sample this variety early. Even in this size the plant branched really nicely.
I can't belive those were under floros...
That's truly amazing...
Dank!

good job but i'm very curious why you took it so early? 33 days is not very long and the buds did not really look mature tho smokable.

hee hee - desparation pf! I'm sorry to say I'm running out. I stopped growing in August and didn't start again til late Nov. Since I have bronchitis right now, I'm switching to eating what is left too! What can I say, but smoke it if you have it :)
I love to shock people with my floro grows VT. Soil, water, ferts, love and floro. And a long vegging time. I have 384 watts running during flowering which gets me to the sweet 50 watts per sq ft measure in my area. 8 at the top, and 4 more at the back to surround. Until flwoering I run with 32 watts per sq ft for vegging. This time around I vegged for a lot less time (I was in a hurry!) so my plants aren't nearly as bushy as I usually like! Not the crop back in 2002 hee hee! Back when I was using T12! Peekaboo
what is your growspace dimension again? I'm lazy...sowwwwy
green girl
03-07-2006, 10:58 AM
I prefer to measure in cubic space, because I try to fill the space I grow in with greenery. flowering area is 2' deep x 4' wide x 3' tall. 3ft is about the maximum penetration for 4ft T8 floro bulbs anyways. Back lights help intensify the light surrounding the plants. I haven't really experimented much with CFLs in the grow room because tubes are more efficient, but I use CFLs everywhere else in my place. For vegging (and the picture taking area) I'm using 2 ft tubes - 2 x 2 x 3. Eventually I would like to use T5's - in 1.5 x 4 x 3 surround.

florific,nice green girl.
>>>I haven't really experimented much with CFL's in the growroom because tubes are more efficient<<<
Really? I always thought they were the best lol...Like I had a 150W onetime and it only used 20 somethin watts of electricity...I don't know the lumens though...well...gee whiz...didn't you say I could add CFL's to my HID?
When you say "surround"...this is mounting floros on the walls too right?
I did look at some High Output tubes after reading one of your posts somewere about lumens and kelvin(is that right...whatever that is)...I'm rambling...tired...cya soon

Thanks Diamond and Tres! :) Hiya VT! The easiest way to compare the efficiency of bulbs is to divide the lumens produced, by the watts. To be even more accurate, I compare the initial lumens per watt against the lumen figure after 40% of the bulb life.
I like my 4 ft bulbs from the hardware store!
T12 bulb 3200 lumens / 40 watts = 80
T8 bulb 2950 lumens / 32 watts = 92.2
T5 bulb 5500 lumens - 55 watts = 100
The plants are fattening up nicely. These Mystery plants are fun to grow.

I topped the Mystery plants! And I had a blast taking pics, but too many! It'll be a couple of days to get them posted :p Before topping. I took a pic, then removed the big fan leaves that were in the way. Very nice spicy smell. From the little plant harvested its a nice buzz, nice and tingly feeling, but goes away quickly, hoping te more mature plants improve on that :D

Thw wwxkm has been the next to mature. Its ready for topping! I ended up vegging these plants one month less than normal (what can I say, I was running out :p) and the yeilds are reflecting the time period. The wwxkm was the only plant that grew enough root structure to warrant a 5 gallon/12" planter. It is the biggest plant in the grow room, but it also has very fluffy bud, so it will dry down quite a bit. Heh, but its worth it! After the top has been trimmed off, I expect I'll be geting at least an ounce less than if I had let it go longer. The plant is amazing though, cloud puffs of bud everywhere on the top and plenty of white smaller buds left below.

gigi, i have found that root mass can increase by a factor of 10 or more during the early weeks of budding. how do you determine that a plant has "enough root structure to warrant a 5 gallon/12" planter."
Thanx. :)

how do you determine that a plant has "enough root structure to warrant a 5 gallon/12" planter."
(I want a question I could answer in one sentence :D) I went and looked for pics. Hmmm, no pictures. Well I'll try to remedy that sometime...
This is part of the reason I plant into gradually bigger sized pots. I take a look at the roots regularly that way. My roots are some fine some more like vines, and they tend to shoot down to the bottom of the pot, then start circling around and around the pot building a root structure upwards. I also check soil consistency at the bottom (unless rootbound) and I look at the colour (soil and roots). I sometimes let vegging plants get rootbound, and its good to know what you can safely cut off occasionally. I repot a day after I moderately water to get a chance to see how much of the water gets wicked away by the plant.
I started in 4" to 6" to 8", then I had decide between 10" and 12" pots for the last transplant. I don't disturb the roots in the final pot - too heavy anyways! :D
the wwxkm was the most rootbound of the bunch - very very white roots, the soil was dry compared to the other pots which were loamier. There was so much less root structure in the Mystery and wwxmango that I don't think they will get rootbound in the 3 gallon/10" pots. I'm not sure about the wwxkm. These plants are smaller than I like to grow.
