The raid of an Amaranth home April 28 netted local police $70,000 worth of illegal drugs and resulted in the arrest of three men.
Const. Scott Davis of Orangeville Police says about 30 officers were involved in the operation, in which police uncovered a significant amount of cocaine, ecstacy, hashish and marijuana.
Also seized from the home were 11 firearms, two crossbows and more than $7,000 in cash.
The bust was the result of a coordinated effort between the Orangeville Police Service and the Caledon OPP drug enforcement unit.
The two police detachments joined forces after suspecting the same individuals were pushing drugs in both Orangeville and Bolton.
"We were aware of certain drug trading in town just from information we received from people," Davis told The Banner.
Police engaged in a three-month investigation that included undercover officers purchasing drugs from the accused on various occasions, says Davis.
"The success of this project should send out the clear message that we are fully prepared to draw on any available resource to protect our citizens from the harm and destruction caused by illegal drug activity within our community," Orangeville police chief Rod Freeman said Friday.
One of the three men arrested has operated the hot dog stand near the parkette in downtown Orangeville for more than a year. Witnesses say police escorted the man away from the stand around the noon hour on Thursday.
Davis says drugs were often sold "in close proximity of that place."
Charged with trafficking and possession of a controlled substance are Antonio Louis Finocchio, 43, Gerrald James Riddle, 50, and Jason Kenneth Campbell, 23.
Police executed the search warrant without incident, Davis adds.
Although Orangeville has closed the books on this incident Caledon OPP say their investigation is ongoing and are searching for nine other suspects.
