I am trying to decide what to buy for my first portable vaporizer unit. It's obvious that Vapir's Oxygen 2.0 is a solid choice, and I do plan to purchase one, however I am still looking for a portable unit that is more discreet and more "natural" looking than the Vapir. I have heard good things about the VaporGenie, but I have also read that tasting butane is a problem with this unit (and also that the unit may not be all that reliable). I have stumbled across something interesting, but I have absolutely no idea how legitimate the unit is nor do I have any idea how clean and healthy using the unit is. The unit is found here:
ww w.hugegrins.c om/Vaporizers.html (sorry, forum says I am unable to post links with less than 15 posts)
It looks very much like a cigar. Would a unit like this be a good idea? Has anyone had any experience using this thing?
Thanks
welcome.
the Oxygen is definitely a solid choice.
The healthiest as well...( of what you mentioned)
I dont think haveing to hold a lighter up to a metal object to ones mouth would look very 'natural' or 'discreet'....but maybe...
with the oxygen you could have it anywhere, and even wihout having pull it out of your jacket pocket you could hit it.
I think your best bet would be to spend a few extra bucks and buy something with some real benefits.., and quality.

I am just finishing up a review of the Vapolution Vaporiser that I won from TY and would totally reccomend it to anyone!!!!
It has a simple attachment so you can plug it into your car and 5 minutes later you are vaping like a mad man!!!
Check out the site and when I have the review typed I will post a link.
I was totally sceptical and didn't think it would work, but was really amazed at how easy it was to use and how good it actually vaped my bud.
Peace,

I bought the Vaporgenie some time ago. I think it does the job quite well. I don't taste butane when I use it but am a bit concerned about inhaling butane. I know it can cause some health problems. If you were only using it occasionally it would likely not be a problem.
The one you posted a link to is the same thing in a different shell. I would think the metal would heat up quite a bit and be hard to hold after a couple of hits. You have to hold the lighter to it for a little bit to reach proper temp. I know the top part of the Genie can get quite hot after a little while but does not really matter because of its design.
I would go with the Oxygen judging by the reviews. Seems the safest in the long run. Vapir has sucked in the past but seems that they have finally made a good unit.

In this issue - number 10 - see page 164. Its a good unit.
As for the butane taste...with a Bic it was distinct and disgusting but with a Torch style lighter this issue seemed to go away.
For the record I dont feel at ALL discreet when I use it. The time it takes to hold the lighter to it and the constant re-filling...if I had the money I would have wanted the oxygen. :)
Hope that helps.

I tried a Vapor Star portable vaporizer today at a friend's place, no power source needed, no butane taste, and it works with the glassware of your choice. Nice little vaporizer.

What lighter do you use with your Genie? I've heard that Zippo is a bad choice and I'm not sure what else is good
oh thats a cool lil thing hashi!
i think I heard about this...
I dont know if youve ever seen the Rastafarians version of a vaporizer...
but its basically a bamboo tube.. with a smaller bamboo tube in place where stem would be on a bong..and a bamboo hitter...(picture a bong made entirely of bamboo)... then in the bamboo 'hitter' goes the herb...
and a metal plate or lid with small holes in it is placed over the herb.. then they place hot coals on top of the metal, and draw through just like a bong... which vaporizes it the exact same was as this.(without the coals).. so primitive..yet so genius!! lol
very neat lil thing.
still not as healthy as a plugin/electric one, but very neat. looks fun! thanx

I've been using the Vapolution for going on 2 yrs. and love it. Works great as a portable. You do have to load pieces vs. ground since it just uses a glass dimple for a screen, but if your piece is small and will fall down the bowl and into the heating chamber when the vape is in the normal, upright position, just turn the unit on its side and vape. It's a super smooth hitter due to the higher than usual vapor to air ratio. It's certainly not a pocket vape unless you've got a really big pocket, but its 12v DC operation allows it to work in a car or boat with the supplied adapter, and a 2 hr. battery pack is available. It's also very satisfactory when just used as a home unit.
The Vapir Oxygen Mini uses the same type of battery pack as the Vapolution, and has more stealth as a portable, but provides small hits and isn't as rewarding just for home use.
I've got a VaporGenie too and it works well, but any butane powered vape takes more care to get good results, since you have to control the heat as well as the air flow.
Once you light a butane lighter, you can't inhale any butane. Butane is hydrogen and carbon and once it's exposed to flame, the hydrogen burns in a flash. At that point there is no more butane. With a normal butane lighter, you're left with some carbon (soot) as well as carbon dioxide and water vapor. The carbon is what you taste, not butane. Use a torch lighter and there is no soot. It will even burn off soot previously deposited by a regular lighter. A torch injects oxygen into the mix, and with that sufficient supply of O, all the carbon is burned. Not only do you get a cleaner, healthier burn with a torch lighter, the hotter, steady flame makes controlling the temp much easier.

Yes, very nice, works very well, with digital temp read-out, set your temp and actually go. It goes with you, and is easy to load with your herb. Battery charge and all.:D

i have the oxygen mini as well, and i love this thing!
I mainly use it as my on the go piece and it works well in cars. Make sure to get the car adapter, i cant stress how much easier it is to enjoy herbs while driving, if youre into that;) Aside from that, no one would even know what the hell youre using! Doesnt look like a vaporizer at all but still produces quality vapors
