Medical marijuana bill needs Senate vote; patients' voices needed

For the past 10 years, Assemblyman Richard Gottfried (D-Manhattan) has introduced legislation that would protect the seriously ill from arrest. Since his bill was first introduced, 11 other states have protected their medical marijuana patients. In New York, momentum has steadily built. The state medical society, medical schools, and nurses association voiced their support. And, finally, in June, the state Assembly voted 95-52 to approve the bill.

But the Senate has not yet acted on the issue and hundreds of patients in New York still go to bed every night, afraid that their doors will be kicked in for using their medicine.

The legislature just reconvened, and it's time for you to let your senator know that this injustice must end: The seriously ill shouldn't have to risk arrest to use the medicine their doctors say will work best.

I get news letters from like 3 or 4 Pro MMJ Organizations.. ASA.. DPA.. MMP.. (I think that it).. it you want me to post update for your state.. or for other states.. just let me know.

For NY.. now sure what out of towner's could do. Even before I knew there was law up in NY State.. I wrote the Candidates who were running for Governer.. and let them know how I feel. Spitzer won govener. When I wrote him.. I never got a response (I just heard he was against mmj). But, when a mmj came up with pressure, he siad he'd sign it.

It is now in the Senate.. from last year.. waiting to be acted upon. Shame on them.

If you don't mind getting known ... I'd get acquainted with you local legislators and write them.. see how they feel about mmj. Everyone told me I'll be labeled a pothead.. to bad if I am. I'm labeled Disabled already.. lol.. good or bad.

Thier are places you can host a free forums. I was originally gonna start a Pro-MMJ Forums, to lets peeps get together and share info... but, never did.

Any other ideas,.. let me know. I'm open to anything...

Hammer-I've been writing my congressman weekly since the bill was in the NY state senate. My congressman is Jim Seward who is against any medical marijuana anyhting. He has written me nice"come down"letters, byt refuses to budge on the issue.I have written Hillary and she has replied that if she wins the presidency, she will stop federal raids on patients who live in states that have passed MMj laws. Its time Ny got off its butt and did what the People want, not what they want.Until they have a family member suffer they will never see things the right way.I'll keep writing but if there is anything more I can do or help you with, please let me know-Peace and One Love BigD

Thanks BigDaddyC... yea.. you can't force someone to open their eyes until they are in your situation. Kathy Young just says she will keep my views in mind.. like yea.. sure.

So, I'm gonna see her one on one and show her a once crippled Disabled American Veteran, I'm a Life Member of DAV, that can now get around because of weed. And hand her a TY#10.. and see her after she reads (which I hope she will..). See how open she is.

Thanks though for trying man.. gets tiring.. seeing how many believe the propaganda machines or just how uneducated they really are.

Peace Bro.. Fight the Good Fight
