So sorry to hear about your loss. It's really rough I know. I recently lost my best friend also. He was 10 yr and died of cancer too. I got a new dog the same day so made the mental anguish more tolerable. I still miss him though.

I am sorry for your loss and can feel your sadness. I put down my faithful friend of 14 years in April and will always miss him. Maybe they will find each other and run in the meadows of doggy peace. I just acquited 2 new puppies and they are making my days interesting full of laughter and puppy kisses and it is helping with the feeling of loss.
My thoughts and prayers go out to you.

This seems to be a trend for us.In the last 17 yrs we have lost so many including our son my grand parents a sister my mom and my step mom 4 cousins and my brother-in-law and many (6) friends from my past drug days from hep c . I think we ( my wife and me ) have become hardened. Both our fathers are now in nursing homes now so we face more sadness to come.I know some would say she was only a dog but she was my last friend here.I am so lucky to know you all and again thank you all for your understanding.oj

Isn't that just awesome! Your dog waited for you to return so that she could share her last breath with you, and you were there for her as she left this place. She is definitely at peace. I know and can empathize with you. It doesn't matter how big or small the creature
but that it waited for you to return before leaving...amazing.
