Hi, not sure I'm posting this in the proper place, but it is a question. Can anyone recommend a really nice bong that I can buy. I've seen a lot of small cheap ones, I'm looking for something of the traditional look, but one that also supports any new technologies to improve effects or reduce emissions, etc.... I've seen Marc Emery using a big bong lot's of times in his video's ....that one is a little too big for me though. my location is in the Toronto neighbourhood.

I have dealt with THC a number of times and never had any problems.
Dom the brains behind this all is a great guy.

They get ROOR bong and accessories in all the time, and the last many times i have been there they have had lots of ROOR. They also heave a selection of GEAR bongs that i suggest checking out!! I have a ROOR and a GEAR and in my opinion its the same quality give or take for MUCH cheaper price!
Check out the THC store if you can, the website doesnt seem to do them justice at all.

As I have always thought that Roor bongs were very expensive for such a simple tool, I would recommend the BlackLeaf brand, much cheaper, prefer the models made of glass except for the pipe and smoking chamber that should be made of metal for an easier and safe cleaning.

thanks for the feedback on this subject of water bongs to smoke weed.

a big fat cork ... some pipe parts ... some latex (or PVC) tubing ... and I drill ... and you can turn many water holding containers into a water pipe (bong, hookah, etc - all the same priciple) ... for free. Have some fun ... hollow out a melon ... put in the cork/hookah attachment and add some fruity yum to your smoke.
Maybe I will put something together (a DIY) for Marco for an upcoming issue.
Glass is good for is breaking and having to be replaced.

I'd go with a Roor or a PHX. In either case I'd also get it as a tripple bubbler leaving the top chamber empty and I'd go with an ash catcher. Running a tripple bubbler in this configuration eeps the peice cleaner and reduces the inhallation of water droplets. Plus it cools the smoke a lot.

greenthumb..I already have a volcano that I use all the time. I also enjoy smoking a little for a change of pace but I think a bong would be a nice alternative to rolling joints. I guess
around 100 bucks up to 150.00. thanks pharma for the suggestion..anybody have any other links, or pics, or suggestions. I've heard of Roor, Gear, Phx., ..looking to buy something inside Canada, and prefer TY sponsers of course.

I have also seen this study. But the reason i dont worry is because THC is not water soluable, and bongs seem to be much less harsher then pipes or joints. Im hoping it is the same for smoke!
Also I think i saw a study that was in favor of water pipes.....
I donno, i wouldnt mind knowing more on the topic...

Yeah the water solubility thing kind fo threw me off as well, I am assumng if it did lose any THC it would be fairly negligible. There is something to be said for taking a huge rip from a nice Roor Icemaster that is for sure.

To the original poster, I would recommend the following for a medical smoker:
Glass bong: Easier to clean/sterilize. 5mm+ glass thickness is best for durability.
Diffuser/diffusing downstem: The bottom of the downstem is sealed and has a number of smaller openings. This makes the smoke break up into smaller bubbles, increasing surface area and therefore improving filtration. Makes quite a difference. RooR, G-Spot, Weedstar and a few other makers sell these.
Carbon filter adaptor: This is the main accessory I think every bong should have. It basically joins underneath the bowl and holds some activated charcoal, which the smoke passes through before going down the downstem and in to the water. It filters the smoke very, very well and removes no psychoactive stuff. It also keeps your bong cleaner for sooooo much longer. Atm only two brands sell this accessory: RooR and Tune.
Now, RooR fits all those categories, but can get very expensive. An alternative is just buying the RooR diffuser (to be fair, the best on the market atm, imo) and either the RooR carbon filter or Tune filter and using those parts on a cheaper glass bong.

tumbleweed: :D "sigh-bye". I don't see any TY sponsors that stock the accessories above, but there should be some shops around your area...liquid chrome? jupiter? THC? Or you can order online.
Glad to be of help.

if ordering online i would suggest "Everyone does it" for selection and price....
check it out they have many ROOR and accessories for much better price then local headshops...

Only problem is its coming from the UK lol
But I still find ROOR accessories to be a great deal from them!

which size of joint is best the 14 or 18? I would like to get at the same time the diffuser, the charcoal filter and possibly a ash catcher? by the way is the ash catcher a necessity or of use? ..Also, I see some tubes are straight, and other tubes have a "beaker" base, e.g. large liquid holder. the narrower one I think they call "icemaster'? which type is better? I am just kind of puzzled why a company like roor that has such incredible customer loyalty seems to have poor customer support. and even poorer distribution of their products here in Canada, and actually it seems also in the USA. I would agree that 'everybodydoesit" in the UK is looking like the only viable distributor. I have a lot of difficulty even trying to make heads or tails with the roor website in germany

Tumbleweed: Actually I've ordered from everyonedoesit quite a few times, in fact my newest order should be coming this weekend. :D
I can recommend them for range, v. good service and pretty good prices.
I don't know how useful an ashcatcher would be, of course it will add another level of filtration but with the charcoal filter I would say its probably not a necessity. Also, RooRs can start to look ridiculous with all the extensions on them.
With beaker and straight tubes, its a matter of preference. Have a read of reviews of roors on forums...
14 or 18, bigger bongs are going to be 18, accessories are usually a little more expensive for 18.
I love bong shopping, even though its mostly window shopping.
To be honest, personally, I want a GSpot 5mm straight tube with the thick tank joint. You can see videos of them hammering in nails with the bong.(!) A pretty good PR idea :D Cheaper than RooR, very good glass I hear and I like carb holes better.

Go to their site and click onto the British flag. I did not see one for more than 200 euros. Roors are sweet, but overpriced, imho.....

I watched the G-spot bong nail hammering video and that pretty much sold me on them. I am a heck of lot more gentle than hammering nails into two by fours. At least it stands a chance of surviving a drop onto carpet.

I'm glad you asked this question... I've made lots of DIY bongs and smoking devices over the years... I've also purchasd lots of cheap ,crappy glass and metal pieces... I'm going to build up another triple chamber water pipe that I made years ago, but I also want to buy my first Good glass bong in the next year or so... I have seen people talking about their ROOR's and really wonder if they are worth that kind of money.
I'm enjoying reading the responses.

Another great option is:
Molino Glass! Please check Grasscity.com to see their glass bongs offerings.
Not as thick or strong as G-Spot but the price is much lower.

Molino tend to be slightly lower quality, from what I have heard...
To be honest, the only bong I'm considering buying atm is a 5mm Gspot Ice bong, with RooR carbon filter and roor diffuser.
Just recently I got a Tune pipe, (I'm going to post a review soon) that has replaceable charcoal filters, and its making a big difference! I think I'm sold on charcoal for harm reduction, cooling and better taste. I know the next bong I buy will have a carbon filter.
*edit: I mean, if I dont buy a vape. Hard to argue with that for harm reduction. :D
I'm used to a big bong hit tho.

The "egg" bong is G-Spot as well. It broke so I had to fix it. It is a 14.5 mm with diffuser.
G-Spot is primo glass!

Sorry they are dirty... As a MMJ patient I tend to smoke much more than recreational cannabis smokers, sometimes hard to keep all weapons ready for inspection. ;)
