Thank you everyone for the views and posts. Micah..I use a caono 20D..this image with a Sigma 105 Macro lens. But...it's not the camera or lens that are really important here. The set up and patience are. I shoot over 200 images a morning to get four or five like these. Thanks again...I'll wait to see if it is worthy of a Treating Yourself cover! DD

Bill thank you...Pat I appriciate your comments ...patience.....Echo..I have 3 quart size feeders in the area and mornings now about 30 to 40 birds buzzing. The birds will stop by any flower in a vase, as this was an indoor bud cut that morning..they even stop at the BBQ tongs that have a red handle. Very unfortunate for me...
i spent the day yesterday defending my images on a growers site where the admin claimed they were fake, I was a liar, and trying to trick their members. After I sent high resolution files of these to them they had to agree that these are real. No apology though...some sites don't appriciate the images photographers such as I give them, give, to share with their viewers..it was a sad day for me....DD

Very nice pics! Not sure about them being used for a cover but definitely worthy of being published. Put an article together about your hobby ( Photography ) and include pics that you have taken. It's a really good patient story that I am sure our readers would enjoy.

Take Care and Peace

Hey Doobie don't let the haters get you down. Your pictures (not just these ones) are stunning. I was wondering how you pulled the trick too! :D You are very lucky where you are.

Fantastic Images You Have There.
This Year My Rottie And His Girlfriend Toto Have been Growing A Crop Just Behind Their Doghouse
Buddy's Keen Eye , And Toto's Sense of Smell Have Proved Most Co Operative , And I Must Say They Are Pulling off A Nice Crop Considering They Are " All Paws ":D
I Caught Up On Buddy This Morning Whilst He Was Slug Hunting And Generally Checking Up On The Girls Progression, And Thought I Might Share The Hard Work Both Buddy And Toto Have Done This Year
Also A Big Up To Toto , Who This Time last Year Was Heavily Into Snorting Spidermites , And Hiding In Her Summer Doghouse
Anyway Here They Are Busy at Work:D

i was thinking that could be dangerous for the birds ...not with the picture you have done already but for the future one ...those buds are going to be very sticky very soon ..
this would be like a sticky flies catcher ,,,lol...
no dd i am just joking ..but you know ..we never know very nice oozing buds ...lol...

DoobieDuck
08-01-2008, 03:28 PM
Sevens you might be right but keep in mind the feeders I am using get really sticky at times and the birds never seem to get any on them. Their little toung reaches about 2 1/2 inches from the end of their bill so they are still quite far from the flower. I'll keep a close eye on them and discontinue shooting if it seems to be a problem...I promiss..DD

Excellant shots, terrific quality. I too like to take wildlife shots and know how
difficult it can be to capture these photos. I do not profess to be able to come close
to being as good as you., but I enjoy the hobby.
If others do not believe you to honest then thier opinion is worthless anyways.
Do not take it to heart. What is important is knowing what you have accomplished, not what others think you can't!
Peace
Keep shooting!

Whew..2008--really--been a long time in between posts huh? Well then....it is time for an update to this thread neglected by me, I'm sorry for the delay. I captured a few new pix this summer in the grow but only a few. My flocks were not as prevelant this year and my health has not allowed me to be as active as in my past. Here are hummers inspecting a cola of Bohempians Double Moonshine I grew. I'll try and keep this thread alive at least twice a year..lol. Peace and be well..DD
