About my LIGHTS..

Hi everyone, The question I have is how far away should my 400 watt HPS bulb be from my plants that are all growing hydroponically, also the same question for when I change bulbs to flowering... I have a grow box with reflective material all around the inside, it seems to really help make it brighter.

maybe I made an error, its the MH bulb that I use first, anyway I know the right bulb is in there, I just got them mixed up...:confused:

Do you have a sealed reflector ? I mean like covered with glass and do you have it cooled . I seal my lite and add a fan pulling in cold air and exhausting the heat . This way I can get within 6 inches of plants . If not keep the lites far enough away so not to burn , If you put your hand at tops and the lite s burn your hand its too close. Unvented I,d say about 18 inches or ferther estimate only tho.:D Good luck oj:D

Forgot to ask are you running floros ?or hps ? Floros are much cooler and you can get em pretty close but still keep a breeze over yer tops:D oj

yes, I have a sealed reflector with a fan in it, I am scared to move it close to my plants but its not very hot because its being cooled...:confused: right now its about 2 feet away from the plants, the plants are veging at about 6-8 inchs right now.

As I said you could maybe get closer. . Any changes should be done slowly as it takes some time for the plants to show problems or positive results, and just change 1 thing at a time and watch yer girls .when ther happy they show ya and when ther sad they,ll also show ya :) :) oj

As long as you make sure it never gets over 30, right above the lovely ladies, they'll be fine, marijuana stops growing when it gets over 30. Beyond that, and you'll get burning. I run my 1000W HPS, just 6 inches from the tops, with no problems. Hope that helps.

right now I'm using a 400 mh and its not air-cooled and it's about 8" away. How I judge is put my hand under the light if my hand isnt burning/hot after a min then I'm good. Having air-cooled you can get closer to the canapy then without one. I would say maybe 6" try first. There are so many conditions that come into play when your talking distances away. Thats why I think the hand trick is the best way....Peace

Are my plants going to grow faster if I move them closer,
Are you using reflective material because that makes
it allot brighter.
they seem to be doing O.K. right now. They are at around 250 PPM,
and around 6 inches tall. I tried to move the light closer and
the tips started turning brown, so I moved it back up again,
and I have a vented light.:confused: I am bringing up my PPM's slowly.
