Ricardo Montalban, immortalized as Khan in the Star Trek franchise, is dead at age 88, passing at his Los Angeles home. Montalban (http://www.eonline.com/uberblog/b79139_ricardo_montalban_tvs_mr_roarke_treks.html) had a long and successful career on television and film. The voice of Rich Corinthian Leather is silenced, but we still have the memories.

RIP Ricardo, I'll smoke a doob in my ole Chrysler Cordoba in your honour.
Well, that's too bad but what are you going to do? He was 88 and I think he was a good man and he had a good life.
However, the car he advertised was a piece of crap. The "Chrysler Cordoba" what a dog!
In 1977 I purchased one of these pieces of crap. I remember taking it to my place of business the first week I got it. I remember getting 4 or 5 guys from the office to come out and look at my new purchase and I remember the piece of crap not starting. I had had this brand new vehicle for 6 days and the piece of crap wouldn't start.
Over the next two years, this piece of crap, was in the shop no less than 18 times.
Back in the 1970's the Ontario Government was trying to get older not fit cars off the road and they started to put safety patrols out on the roads to stop and get rid of these old junkers. I was told that if you approached these road side safety stops and asked to have your car inspected that these mechanics would do it. So I took my (not 3 months old piece of crap) into one of these places and sure as hell, this 3 month old piece of crap, failed the test! I was told that they were going to have to take my car off the road! What a piece of crap!
Luckily there was a Chrysler dealer on the same street as where this stop check was and they let me drive it to this dealership as they could watch me from their stop check drive into the dealership. I am sure that from their vantage point they could hear my discussion with the service manager about this piece of crap. By the way it was fixed in less than two hours.
WOW! I'm sorry about this RANT and it is a RANT! It's just because every time someone mentions the "Chrysler Cordoba" I remember the one I had oh so many years ago.
Did I mention that it was a piece of crap!

I will never forget him in the Cordoba tv commercials. It sure had comfortable rich Corinthian leather seats and plenty of leg room unlike the modern cars. Biig cars save lives. I am living proof of being saved in a big car. Rest in peace Ricardo.

well, that is some story Roy. but just so that we don't think it is only north american cars, in 1981 I bought a brand new Honda Civic. It was rustproofed at the factory. In approx 5 years I had to dump it as the bottom of the car was falling off due to rust. a rust bucket. great engine but NO BODY. also , interest rates were like 21 % at the time and I financed the whole thing. that aside, I remember ricky motalbon in his Maxwell House...good to the last drop commercials and as the boss ..the plane the plane in fantasy island...and of course he made a big impression as the powerful Kahn.
Years ago I own a Chrysler Cordoba.
I would just like to comment on it's quality....It was a piece of crap!!!
Oh, I already mentioned that...so sorry!
:p :p :p
