Omega Garden's Volksgarden w/pictures lol

Howdy All,

Sorry to all who were following my last Volksgarden posting where the pictures disappeared. I will not make this same mistake again.

These first pics are from the end of the first grow of which only 30 small plants ended up in the Volksgarden due to my unexpected acquisition of a Volksgarden.
The yield on this was one half pound using one 600 watt lamp. There were really only 15 plants of any reasonable size.

I am also anything but a nerd and I am having a rather rough time trying to get pictures re sized and posted so please bare with me.

I might not have the sequencing right for all of these but pics are coming and I hope soon to have my act together a bit better.

The second round was 60 plants with a little better sizing though it was a different strain I learned a lot about the system while growing the first round.

This is the finish of the second go round. I have yet to get the weight from this run but if I can compare to last time I am hoping to get about 2 lbs for the 600 watt lamp, which will make me a happy guy, and there is room for improvement still

1- Do you think you could use a 1000w light to increase bud weight? It didn't look like the plants got TOO close but I don't know.
2- Are you going to try and fit more plants in round 3?
3- Would topping and a little extra veg help for more tops?
4- How many plants did you put per rack/slot on round 2?
5- ETA on when we can hear the finished weight?

Sorry theres so many questions, I just find this thing fasicanting. And I too hope to be able to master this machine!

1) I am not too sure if a 1000 watt lamp would make the desired difference, I think its more genetics then anything else. I am still in the genetics side of the game, and would like too avoid the use of 1000 watt lamps. The system will handle the 1000 watt lamp if I decide to use one and the plants are far enough away so far with the two grows that I have done.

2) I will be posting about round 3 shortly.

3) I think topping would produce more tops but personally I would rather have all center tops, so I will likely stay with this program for the time being.

4) There were 60 plants total in the 2nd run, so some rows were 4 plants and other 3 plants per row.

5) Finished weight on round 2 was less then hopped for at .97 lbs. I will be trying new genetics for round 3. Still looking for a plant with volkslegs.

Yes the Volksgarden is perfect for me. I am in an apartment and there is no way that I would have been able to make it work with the full sized Omega. From what I can tell they no longer sell the larger steel units.

My VG fits nicely into my grow tent so I am a happy camper, (pun not intended) ;)

Why don't you try a run with multiple strains so you can figure out which is the best? Also what strains have you tried so far?

the first 2 where both different types of kush. The last one was very disappointing, though it was fast as hell and looked great. The strain I am going run now is Hogsbreath. It is a
Hindu Kush x Afghani clone only that has legendary taste and comes from San Diego.

I may try a mix of many plants but i think this system works best with all the same size plant.

That makes sense for the even canopy I suppose. I went to a hydro shop today who recently had the volks on display and they told me you can't use 1000 watt light in the volks it will burn everything up. Does it get pretty hot near the center? I thought the purpose of the cool tube was so they wouldn't burn up?

I don't know why someone would say that. Usually people make up their minds about something without any real reason except that they heard blablabla or whatever. You can run a 1,000 lamp in a Volksgarden and it will be hotter then running 600s obviously, and you cant get as close to the center as you can with lower wattages, but you really dont want to fill in the system till you are touching the cool tube anyway.

Good choice. I heard Hogsbreath is supposed to have an incredible SOG yield. You might be able to fill all 80 if thats the case. Just trim the lower 1/3 of the plant and get some fatty nugs up top.

looks great max i have been trying to find someone growing in a volksomega for months,and then i found ur thread on rollitup and followed u here.Hope everyone on this site can apperiate hard work.I am ready to buy a volks just had one question how do u get ur clones rready? Do u have a veg room and take new cuttings each round or? Thanks for the info Keep it green Sweet
