I always keep my plants in total darkness for 48 hours right before I chop them. I seem to get stickier budz that way.

thc is broken down by light. the plant regenerates it's supply at night. doing what bb does is not a bad idea at all. one should AT LEAST unplug the light the day before harvest and harvest without the light ever coming on the next day.

i read over at advanced nutrents that they did a thc count on plants that were left in the dark for a matter of time and they actually lost some of there thc content.
i dont believe everything on the internet but these people are supose to be the pros.
i think what pflover said makes sense as to not let the lights hit them on the day of harvest.
i dont know the right answer but either way you should end up with some decent meds.
the biggist mistake that people make is picking there cannabis too early which will indeed result in lower quality meds.

yeah, after 24 hours dark i have not personally noticed a positive difference my self and i have tried everything from harvesting at the end of the light cycle to harvesting after 4 days in dark. the my best results usually are at about 16-24 hours dark.

Actual extended dark times can harm THC and other cannibinoids values. Light can be destructive to THC yes, but only if the plant is dead, and or drying. That being said light is energy and food (through photosynthesis) and the more light a plant receives the higher the THC concentration. Remember resin glands work as kinda a sun screen for herbs. I found the best time to harvest is right in the morning after the dark period. This way they are yet full from the day before feeding and sunbathing.
Marijuana's canna content varies widely over the day, being strongest in the early light period, receding during the day, then rebuilding again at night for the next day.
That all being said. What 48hrs+ in darkness does is it kinda strips away some of a plants clorophyll(what makes it green) Thus making it lighter in color, and makes the trichomes stand out more. It makes for added bag appeal, and you know to humans if it looks better their mind thinks it's better. Actual potency of a 48hr specimen would not be any more potent, a tiny fraction less but not what would be noticeable
