so i have a darkroom dr80, 2x internally powered 150 hps's, an elf scrubber, and a 180 cfm squirrel cage fan

the problem is im about 10 pounds over what my frame says it can hold

what i want to know is how much suction i will lose if i mount the fan outside of the tent, and run a small amount of duct (1 or two feet) out of the tent to the fan

is this just a totally horrible idea?

should i use soft duct/rigid duct

any input would be greatly appreciated

there heirloom roma's arent going to grow themselves

what are you talking here like 6 inches to a foot of ducting?

If you use a rigid duct you wont lose too much, of course there will be some loss, but it should do ok.

Is there anywhere you can support the frame, teh idea I have here, make two small holes in the top of the tent, through two pieces of duct tape, on the inside and outside.( this will keep fabric from ripping eventually).
Take some wire or something similar and mount one end to the ceiling and wrap the other end around the frame, this should easily hold 10 pounds. If the wire is very small in diamter i would wrap the area that would be touching frame in tape too.

Good luck!

I also use a tent and have my suction fan outside the tent using 4in flex..I run a 600w and self cooled hood. I run the filter into the lamp, out of lamp to my flap with a few feet of duct, then to the fan on the wall..Theres some pics on my grow site..
Best of luck!
