How long should I allow my trichomes to dry after removing the excess water during extraction?

My first batch last week I only allowed to dry for a few hours before I shaped the temple ball. I did not realize this could make it go bad if the inside remains moist.

Would over-night be sufficient as long as I cut up the 'chomes really small and allow to dry slowly on cardboard (which is was I used to leech the excess moisture with last time)?

Thanks in advance for any replies!

Jim

Longer the better.
at least 24 hrs.

IMO do not bother pressing into any shape, just leave in the powdered form.
If you press it you may trap moisture inside and cause mold to form.

I can offer a method that i was recently shown. It seemed to work quite well. You take your hash which you scraped from your bags..Place it in a plastic zip lock bowl or a glass bowl. Using a fork whip it like you would an egg. This makes it go into a finer form alowing the air to dry it out. Every day you whip it till it gets to the dryness you like. You wont have to worry about mold with this method. If you want you can whip it for about 5 days and it turns into a powder like form and changes to a brown colour. You leave it in the open air the whole time. Good luck

Thank you for offering me a variation tek!

I just did my 3rd-ever extraction tonight...learning from my last two and like the cliche says...the third time's the charm. This is the nicest hash I've yet to smoke...and through my bubbler...it's just amazing. :)

I'll be uploading an update to the thread over in the Hash section of Photography.

Peace & Light,

Jim

in most enviromental conditions they should dry on cardboard in a few days, leave them there a week turning them occasionally if you want ot make sure.

I don't have a mold problem.

I press the water from my wet hash by placing the wet hash into maybe five or six coffee filters and then pressing these coffee filters between my hands. This method gets rid of a lot of water quickly. I then form the hash into small balls or blocks and let them dry on cardboard or even coffee filters.

Hope this helps someone.
