Greeting ty family,
I am not sure if you recall an early thread I posted about my medical patient and friend, Todd.
His many years of dedication to the HIV/Aids community in Canada is truly amazing and a testament to overcoming, adapting and helping many deal with the diagnosis in the early stages. He has also done much for the medical marijuana battle on our behalf before the MMAR conception.
Todd is a wonderful person and I am proud to have him as my friend.
Please take the time to read his proposal to Casey House Hospice (www.caseyhouse.com (http://www.caseyhouse.com/)) for a New Remembrance Candle Display.
His gesture, effort and expense to make this thought a reality is touching and is yet another testament to the person Todd is.
With great respect, I am posting his proposal with love:
“Here is a copy of the 'Remembrance Candle' Proposal, Plus Pictures & drawings of my ideas for it. i.e. plaques, Stand/Base, Glass or frosted Ribbons.
Any further Questions Call or Email me. Any Letters of support for this project Much Appreciated
Please address letters of support to kdeprinse@caseyhouse.on.ca ( kdeprinse@caseyhouse.on.ca)

Proposal to Casey House for a New Remembrance Candle Display
Recently during my stay here at Casey House, a resident passed away. Upon learning of this event, I immediately went to pay my respects & honour the person’s life & memories by going downstairs to the front room where the ‘Candle of Remembrance’ is.
I walked up to the desk upon which it sits in front of the main window. I was surprised & dismayed to be hit with a overwhelming feeling of ‘Gee this candle holder looks so neglected, not proudly on display, that it was almost just an afterthought that has to be done’. That it was not proudly displayed in the front window so that all who pass may see it, and be aware of our loss. That the candle Display unit itself is dull, the lovely red shade was broken long ago and never replaced (nor thought put to it that it should be replaced), and that in its place cheap glass dollar store candles are being used. It was not shining bright for all to see. It was off to the side, sort of out-a-sight, out-of-mind. If I had not known of the passing, I probably wouldn’t of noticed that it was a light & there at all.
At that moment, I realised that I had the same feelings & disappointment come across me about a year ago when I was here and someone passed. That I had went down to the candle and looked with dismay at how it was presented, and how it looked like such an afterthought and how you could not see it from outside.
I as a Long Term Survivor of HIV/AIDs (since 1986), I am saddened & hurt by the current state of the ‘Remembrance Candle’ at Casey House. I use to stand proud when it was alit and was proudly display. Curtains pulled & opened, there for all to see. There proudly proclaiming, that we will not forget all those who have passed. It helped me feel proud for all my many, many, fellow PHA’s who have passed through Casey House. It allowed Family, Friends, Acquaintances, an opportunity to pause & reflect, a moment to grieve, a moment to remember one taken from us to soon. It showed respect for PHA’s who have passed on here or at home. Somehow, a lot of that is gone & missing in the current one and how it is displayed.
I realise that there is a history attached to the current candleholder. That it is dedicated to ‘Keith Nevel’, Sept. 9, 1952 – June 21, 1989. A Priest who was aligned with the A.M.D.G. Order. It bears an Inscription of ‘We Remember’ on the Right Side and on the Left side is inscribed ‘Casey House’. I have attempted to research into the history of it, but to no avail. I do believe that it’s history of what it is and has been, needs to be respected and that it be placed in a place that will honour it so. I want to celebrate it and acknowledge it in some way.
However, I also feel it is time for a new ‘Remembrance Candle’ Display. One that will show Pride & Respect to all PHA’s, that stands Tall and will be seen easily by all inside, but especially from the outside. I bring forward some plans, photos, & drawings of ideas for a new ‘Candle’ that I have come up with. I have already purchased the two main Candleholder pieces you see in the photographs. I went and got these as a Christmas gift for myself to give to Casey House after I the passing of a resident here and upon seeing the dismal shape of the current display.
As I really had no Christmas this year this was to me my Christmas for me & for all to enjoy.
I would like to work on & present to Casey House this new ‘Remembrance Candle’ Design with input coming from staff, & residents, volunteers, & clients. I have been showing designs to fellow PHA’S, with very good & positive feedback.
I have covered all costs so far. I am willing to cover more as well. I have spoken to a Plaque Maker, as well as a Glass Artist about further work for it. You will see from the drawings and photo’s various concepts for it. I believe as well that there are others who would be willing to donate to help with the costs of this project.
I present this proposal for your humble consideration, & look proudly forward to be able to complete this project for you as a gift of my love & respect to all PHA’s & Casey House.”
From the desk of,
Todd A. Glanville

I am thinking about this and have a concern.
I know there are fire codes.
I found while doing research on fire codes where a candle shall have some kind of protective case. like a glass container over the open flame. I would hate to see that curtain behind the candle go up in flames.

Which Kush are you referring to?
I have a few :p
As far as people not getting me?
Yeah i have spent a lifetime of that type of reaction so i am quite used to it.
I look at my oddity as uniqueness and if people are a bit fearful of it;
GOOD!:D
Thats the way I like it and for good reason:D
Hey and please do not worry about the seeds. I did not do this to get a free 10 pack of seeds but did it because it was a noble and right thing to do for a good cause which I support.
I totally missed the seed bribe:p
Tres cool on the fact that you have your own seeds
and a kush cross no doubt:eek:
My patient also does a LOT of volunteer work himself.
He has spent much of his life volunteering for others and his generousity seems limitless at times. Thank goodness for humans like these. Its such a refreshing change to know that good people really do still exist.
Good luck Chana. Your thread spoke volumes about your personality and purpose.

Growers and breeders alike, some agree and some dont. But what ever I pull from commercial seed, I always split the pack. I save half for the future and grow out what I can get from ganja storke. If I find something I love I keep them alive as long as I can. In my case it is an afghani no.1 cross, male diesal, and my master kush cutt. I have some great genes on the go now though. So I am excited at the near future.

Lady Lace,
Thanks girl... I always enjoy your threads and post... they make me smile most of the time. That one about the lady cop coming in to your house had me mad ...:( Yeah the female cop in MY FACE didn't really make my day either. What ever though, through trial and tribulations we grow togeather.

You owe me nothing. It was a priviledge to be able to participate with patient/ grower tag team to make something like this happen. People's lives NEED to be remembered and done in a respectful manner. Its truly nice to know some fellow growers in it for the right reasons and you clearly are just that.
I'm fortunate enough to have gotten a very respectful and compassion patient also whom has made an impressionable impact on my life for the better and I can't help but notice that same transfer of energy on you.
It makes me smile from within, so has to be good.:D
I know you are kush fan too... I would love to see you post your next grow from start to finish. Then we can lock it in the TY halls of fame for ever!!! I am a big kush fan and your seeds sound very interesting. From your grow experience I bet they are good too.:p
I'm really surprised how few journals there are here. For a cannabis site there are maybe 3 or 4 active journals, which makes having a journal intimidating.:o
It doesn't seem like many growers support other growers in this regard and I haven't quite figured out why. I've speculated though  .....heehee:rolleyes:
Growers and breeders alike, some agree and some dont. But what ever I pull from commercial seed, I always split the pack. I save half for the future and grow out what I can get from ganja storke. So I am excited at the near future.Thats cool cause i do the same thing. A good friend and I often split seeds and share so often are growing the same strains. I've got lots of different seed strains but am always looking for new and interesting ones.
Afgani/diesel/master kush.....um:)

Just to alleviate you concerns re: curtains. The new display is a Hurricane type holder witha tall glass shade surrounding the candle it self. The curtains are to be pulled openi in front of the candle. per fire regs. (They seem to forget to do this though alot. I am investigating, sources for good candles and have a few. Someone suggedted gettting a electric Candle, but I looked at a few and they just don't look the same nor have the feel & dignity that a real flame holds. But be assured your concerns are reconised and are/being addressed.
