View Full Version : Replacement (substitute) O-Rings

For the second time now, one of my Volcano (easy valve) chambers has mysteriously lost its blue rubber o-ring that provides a seal around the connection between the chamber and the bag. The first time around, I searched for a replacement o-ring and eventually gave up, buying a complete accessory kit (bags, new chamber, screens, etc) which is incredibly expensive.

This time, I'm really hoping to find a better solution. There *MUST* be identical or sufficiently similar o-rings in the right size out there....I'm completely sure of it. The trick is to find one that is *known* to do the job, so I'm not wasting time, money and energy trying out a bunch of them before I find one that works.

Obviously, the lack of this o-ring seal lets vapor escape....and that's wasteful not to mention that it compromises stealth. I can't be the only one with this problem; let's figure it out together so that nobody has to pay $100-$200 just to get a replacement O-ring when they don't really need new bags or a new chamber!

they sell the oring kit for around 12 bucks. that is what i would try before tossing a few hundred at the situation, or even better give the folks that make the volcano a call and ask them about replacement orings only for the part you are missing (you should be able to get just what you need)

happy hunting :)

if you happen to have an extra valve i would be interested in buying it as the one i have is giving me fits.

just took the part that needed the ring into the auto parts store, the clerk was more than happy to find the proper ring, not effected by heat, so it won't melt on me...lol...there are always work arounds that will be less expensive...just gotta do some due diligence...all things will pass.

Peace...j.b.

Saeon, BROTHER

Buna N O-rings work greatly and they are not that expensive.

At Scientific Instrument Services (http://www.sisweb.com/vacuum/o-rings/buna.htm)

They are a hot temp O-Ring and they exist in food grade also.
