The basic thing is that the Fidesz, a conservative party won the elections and will have a two-third majority, which basically means that they can do whatever they please. This one party can now change all the laws and even the constitution as well as appoint new judges.
By polarizing the country, they also created vast support for Jobbik, a neonazi party which reaped 17% (!!!) of votes and is no. 3 in parlament now. (more on Jobbik here: http://esbalogh.typepad.com/hungarianspectrum/morvai-krisztina - it's outrageous!)
There is no balance anymore and Fidesz is likely to toughen drug laws even further to serve the right wing. They even showed support for the Drug Free Marathon by those Scientology fuck wads!
We need all the publicity we can get for this year's March - beforehand. The regular media will only report afterwards something like: "Yeah, some delusional guys got together to legalize poisonous drugs."
Now, even if we get bad headlines, more people will know about this and come to support our cause.
We need people to go on youtube, to invite all their facebook friends, to blog, to mail, to phone, to talk - to propagate this in any way they can, so we can be heard and maybe avert a change for the worse!
The Global Marijuana March for Hungary will take place in Budapest on Margitsziget, May 9. 2010 (Sunday) and officially starts at 4 pm.
The number of protesters are already going to be in the low thousands, as is indicated by the more than 1200 participants who have signed up for this event on facebook: http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=109246985776237&ref=mf
