Police find cannabis plants on roadside

Michele McPherson | 26th January 2011

Traffic police came across nine mature cannabis plants while helping with traffic control during the removal of a house from a property in Kaitemako Rd, Welcome Bay today.

Constable Daniel Matthews of the traffic unit said police noticed the plants on roadside land, owned by Tauranga City Council.

They questioned neighbouring residents about the plants but no one claimed to know anything about them.

"They've just been seized by us for destruction," Mr Matthews said.

Mr Matthews said no one had been charged in relation to the plants.

I always find it funny that LEOs manage to magically find "mature" plants midsummer when everyone else's are in veg.

My favorite was a cop standing in front of a well known field of feral hemp talking about the $2,000,000 'drug bust' holding a leaf and saying "this is prime stuff here, ripe for harvest." The locals laughed him out, the hemp was planted during WWII under government orders and has never gone away, the annual replanting (cut the hemp when the seeds are mature) sure hasn't hurt the field either.

"Mr Matthews said no one had been charged in relation to the plants"

Also about the overgrow the government thing, based on all the youtube vids I seen, I think its already happened...just no one thinks about it.
