It occurs to me that I have no idea what it is to make hashish, oil, or tinctures. can anyone shed some light on the subject for me?

Not that I'm planning on making any in the near future, I just want to know. I might try to make something come harvest time.

Dude, the forum that you posted your question in has a lot of info in it.
I'm suggesting that you read through the threads and posts in the Hash and Oil forum.
This is one of the reasons that the threads and posts remain. So that people can view them and gleen information form them. So instaed of just posting any old question that pops into your head, maybe instead take a few or more minutes and read through some of the forums and maybe you'll be able to answer some of your own questions.
This goes for a lot of the questions that I see being asked.
The only way that you're really going to learn, is if you look, read, learn and then add a few questions on the things that you're muddled on and then do, make a few mistakes, figure a few things out and learn a thing or two. There is so much info both here and elsewhere. Put in a bit of effort and go find it. In the end you'll be much happier having discovered some things for yourself.
Give it a try, you might be surprised.

I think I need to adjust my options to include older stuff but all that I could find were questions and answers about the best way to do it. what I was asking for was something very basic. or at least some sort of glossary of terms.

Here's my point. I'm not saying that you're asking bad questions, just an awful lot of them. You were able to get yourself MMJ User Status, so Bravo on that, I'd just like to see you find a way to answer some of these questions yourself, instead of looking to have everything handed to you.
I'm not trying to be harsh, just honest. The things that you're looking for are out there in abundance and if you want to grow and enjoy MMJ it really behooves you to answer some of your own questions. Find and use many of the resources that are out there.
If everything is handed to you, everytime you run into a problem you then need to rely on others the get you out of a jam, but if you meducate yourself you'll be able not only to help yourself but others as well.
Me, if I want to know how to do something, I do a bit of research and then I go and do it. Even if I completely screw it up, I've learned so much just with the actual experience. I'm learning to weld. Did I happen to read and of the 15 books I have aquired on welding?
No, I went and got a welding machine and I go and I weld. I just finished my first paying job welding. The welds are butt-ulgy, but they hold and the piece serves it's function. I probably did things in a way that wasted a bunch of time and materials.
But I can say that 'I weld, not great, but I weld.'
Am I saying not to ask questions, no, it's one of the ways that we learn. But there's also independant study and my favorite, doing.
Doing is the best teacher of all.

hash is a collection of all the trichomes (crystals). oil is a solvent based extraction from plantmatter. tincture is an ethanol based extraction that does not evaporate off all the solvent so you are left with an edible solution of cannabinoids and alcohol.

other than that buddy is right, reset you options and search this forum, if you still have specific questions then shoot once you got some info to work with. :)
