 My light came on a few minutes ago and I went and checked on my plants. Yesterday I noticed some spots on the big fan leaves that looked glossy.Well today those spots have turned yellow and some of it has been "ate away" or well just aint there.. It also looks like the leaf is drawing together or scrunching up in these spots. I think it is a ph problem but am not sure. yesterday I watered with straight tap water. Or is it bugs or is it a nutrient problem? I just transplanted them on monday. I am lost growing indoors and am now freaked out.Outdoors I didnt worry about my plants I just let mother nature do her job, but now im brother nature. I dont want to loose these. :(

I dont have a camera and prolly wont get to use one for a while cause the ol lady got into it with her cousin who I borrowed the camera from.

Use a magnifying glass on those leaves.. You may see tiny bugs about 2 mm long.
Been having the same thing on a couple of plants near the bottom. I've just been killing them by hand but I would imagine there must be an easier solution..
Maybe someone here knows just what they are and how to get rid of em...

Mist the plant with water and look real close and see if you see little spider webs......... Safer soap sold at most stores will kill lots of different types of bugs.

Sound like you have a bug problem, are you in veg or flower?

two weeks into flower tomorow. No webs Leroy. i see some little white spots sitting on the leafs. When I first saw these I thought it was some excess perlite that was floating around because of my fan. But now I may think it may have something to do with it. I dont have a magnifieng glass to check them out better but they are alot smaller than 2 mm. I dont know. The brownish yellow spots are forming in between the veins on the fan leaves not on the tips.

I personally have had success with Einstein's neem oil -- or have resorted to Malathion in extreme- I repeat- extreme situations, as it is a very dangerous and powerful insecticide --Please use with caution, if at all, and rinse repeatedly with fresh water afterwards.......
Thrips are baby lil larvae flies of many varieties, most thrive on corn, grass, and potted plants......much info out there........just gotta poke around.......d

I just had some problems with mites, the leafs had yellow spots on them like you were saying and i thought it was a ph problem. Then the leafs started to go more yellow so i looked closer and yep i had mites :( This is what i used to get rid of them and it worked. It's called safer's end all,i bought the concentrate stuff as you get more applications by mixing it on your own :) Just my 2 cents,
cheers

Well I am broke and cant afford to buy anything. On the overgrow link posted by greenthumb I found a recipe to mix 1 tsp. of dishsoap, 1/4 cup of veg. oil, to one gallon of water. I made some up and pulled my plants out and thoroughly sprayed out my closet and then sprayed down the plants. If this dosent work in the first few applications I will try the garlic recipe. If that dont work I will have money saved by then to buy something. Will these things completely kill my plants or just diminish my yield? Oh and I still havent seen one yet.

On mine they are so small even with the magnifying glass it's hard to see them until they move..

If you are 3 weeks into flower and the lower leaves are yellowing it may just be the flowering process cannabilizing the nitrogen from the leaves. Are you sure you got bugs?

They are small, like tiny grain of rice lookin' -- once you see one, it's easier to see the herd.........and fast -- hooboy, jumpers I tell ya....

Here is some lower leafs I just plucked, 4 weeks into flower, normal looking if you ask me, I had bugs too weeks ago and this stuff sure fixed them good. very cheap too, like 3 bucks for one and 5 dollars for the other.

The "drying" that you see around the yellow spots is because the juice is being sucked out of the leaf. If you can get Safers pyrethrum and insecticidal soap concentrate or ready to spray bottles. Get's most of the common bugs.

Be careful of what you use-if it's a chemical....pyrethrins are safe at this point in flowering.

Thats not what they look like leroy. They are spots that start as shiny spots then they kind of bunch up and then the bunched up spot turns yellow and finally there is just a hole in the leaf like something ate it.

I thought you guys where talkin about some stuff from a hydro shop. I live in a small town and figured you guys were talking about stuff Id have to mail order. Ill get some of that stuff tomorow after work.

sounds like aphids. the following was taken directly from Indoor marijuana horticulture the medical, leagal, cultivation encyclopedia for 2001 and beyond by Jorge Cervantes,pg 233-4, hope it helps

Identify: Also called plant lice, aphids, are about the size of a pinhead. They are easy to spot with the naked eye, but use a 10x magnifying glass for positive identification.(leaving some stuff out here)
As they feed, aphids exude a sticky honeydew, attracts ants that feed on it. Ants like honeydew so much that they take aphids hostage and make them produce honeydew. Look for columns of ants marching around plants and you will find aphids.

Camage: Aphids suck the life-giving sap form the foliage causing leaves to wilt and yellow.
Look for them under the leaves, huddled around branch nodes and growing tips.

Control: Manually remove small numbers. Spot spray small infestations. Control ants. Introduce predators if problem is persistent.

If the leaves are silver looking where the damage is then you have thrips. I just found mine about 10 days ago. The ones that I had were the same color as the leaves so they are difficult to see. They are about 2 to 3 times as long as a mite and look like a tiny slug and their color being green made them difficult to see. Try looking at the veins of the leaves, especially the bottom of the leaves. And give the plant a little shake before you look. I thought I had mites so I was looking for those and didn't see any mites and wasn't looking for anything else so I thought it was something else like PH. After the 4th time of looking I finally saw the thrips. Lucky they were in my veg box and not my flower. I have thrown away 6 plants and am trying to save the other 4. I have been using some insecticide that is for vegetables but I looked again today and there are still some there. I will try spraying them 1 more time and if I see 1 more I am just going to start all over after i clean the shit out of my areas. Trying to save these is just to much for my nerves. Good luck with yours.

Well what ever it was has ceased. I only had to spray with the soap once. I may have just been over worrying. I must remember to K.I.S.S. Let them weeds grow.

Ive never seen a pest problem that soaking a cigarette in water overnight and spraying the plants with the solution wouldnt cure.
