got your attention with that didn't I, you pervert, lol.
since not everyone is a seasoned gardener I thought I would throw this out for feedback.
my statement is about "when do you determine the sex of a plant". do you wait until there's little yellow powder spots on the leaves, or are you like me and get down with the magnifying glass at the 3rd set of leaves to see how fine those little shoots are that come out of each set of branches. since I am wrain brecked I can't recall the name of the hairs that we look to for determining sex, or are they female hairs lol. in the last 8 males I have been successful in catching them before any 12/12 time by looking at those hairs as soon as they shoot out. they're generally only 1/4 in long at that point. of course you will see that the stem of a male-to-be seems to be cleaner or more bare than the females-to-be.
so, what say you? when do you call them and what do you use for early signs? I will grab some pics and submit a reply later.

I must be gettin old. I know that because you shrink in height as you rot into retirement, and that would explain this line I read "I´m the one with the big magnify-glass, looking like Sherlok Holmes in my closet", goin right over my head? you're amazing anonymous, you could see it a comin and it flew right over my head lol. ok lets get back on track or there'll be no end to it, lol.

i notice that the green shoot on the side of stalk is wider than on the female at least that seems to be the indicator to.but if i'm not shure i look very carefully to see if it starts to show a clump of minute balls forming then thats when i give it the ol gilatine..:D:D

The two tallest plants i have are female. Height has nothing to do with sex in my opinion. I have to what untill i see the male pods. I have a cal orange that i thought was male. I waited to see the male pod and never got it. Two big fat white hairs come out of it. I would like to be able to pick the males sooner so i could free up the space. I would like to see those pics.

Anonymous,
I think the males are tall and skinny also until one day there was a tall skinny plant and I thought.....you bastard, I must kill you but then I held out for another week to look for those balls I just knew he had and it turned out to be a nice big girl. She was good. The best sex I ever had.

i got balls on a limey green g13 at 4wk of 24/7s. is this a good sign for a male. the plant is short and squat. should i just yank the sucker? i do wnat some g13 seeds. anyone.
I'd say such an early showing of sex is a great sign. Anytime I get a male that shows that quickly then it's a candidate for breeding a great outdoor strain. A quick sexing and potent plant is a great combo.
I'd take a branch, gen, and root that one in a widowsill somewhere's in the house, then bag it and collect the pollen that way. This time of year-- depending where you live-- the branch will flower while it's rooting with the natural light cycle. If you don't want to bag the branch, then secure it on a 45 degree angle and place a sheet of paper or mirror under it to collect the pollen from. Good luck.
