hello ty! i'm a hydro grower from washington state. i started growing shortly after my girlfriend was diagnosed as type 2 bipolar, the medicines they gave here either didn't work very well(our loving kitty seems to help more) or the side effects where pretty extreme, so i started growing with the intent to even out her swings and in here words 'make here sane again' :)

there is a challenge in this, she has drastic highs and drastic lows, a strain that works for one aspect might not work for the other.

i've been growing for nearly two years now and i just now feel that i'm a competent grower, i've grown bag seed up until now(afraid to waste money on beans) and now i'm looking for strains that will help her (any recommendations?)

but anyways, its great to find a close knit community like minded people, its great to meet you all! :D

welcome skyH: perhaps you could list the symptoms, which med mj might help with? also some folks don't get a reaction at all, like me, so you need to be as specific as possible when narrowing down from the thousands of hybrids out there.
I can' t tell ya what works for me because its for body-bone grinding pain, spasms, and neuro generated pain. The best one I have tried to date is OG Kush. it lasted almost 3 weeks before tolerance kicked it out of my garden. I find I need a super potent indica, with a dash of sativa for the distraction factor. I suspect your girlfriend may need more of a sativa. there are others in here with Bi-polar and they posted lots of help, before the crash, perhaps they will see your post here and chip in to help you. One word to the wise, not all seedbanks are on the up and up, and some advertise med stock that wouldn't help a possum let alone us. check for feedback in the forums for seedbank ratings. Our seedbanks, who sponser TY, have all been really good to date. also check with mmjreform, overgrow and cannibusworld for thier seedbank forums. good luck, at least you picked the best method for growing, ie hydro.

Howdy and welcome to TY. Can't help you with your strain search, but you've come to the right place. My guess is that you are seeking a sativa or a sativa heavy cross. Best of luck in your search...

i'm glad i got responses saying to lean towards sativa, right now i'm looking at a few different blueberry sativa crosses from reeferman seeds

also i'm looking for an EXTREMELY couch lock high, i have OCD and sometimes i cant sleep cause my brain won't shut off and tylenol PM is losing its effect ;)

Hi skyhighatrist, welcome to ty....I too have type II BP....I believe there are several members here with this same disorder...I suspect to that whatever works for ADD would also have an favorable impact on the manic aspects...best of luck

Welcome guy!!!!! Fellow BP victim here.....Best thing to do I have found is to test everything ....I hear some Bi-polars swear by indicas and others sativas....I find indicas work well but....a lil sativa here and there works ok...If I over do it with the doseage of sativa it seems to bring on panic.....Bi-polar's are always different.....so we need a good suppy of it all....

I know that was confusing........ but whatta expect from a B-P person?????....Hope you can find the right combo...It's fun find'n out what works best....take it slow and stick by that girlfiend in the good times and bad....remember she can't control some of those bad times!!!!
