Drugs dont destroy famillys, prisons do. While it is true that
many drugs are, in and of themselvs potentailly harmfull,
I contest that prison is a far more effective way of destroying
lives and familys. Lets face it, Daddy going to an NA meeting once or
twice a week is far less likley to get him divorced than doing 5 years
in a federal pen. He also probably has a smaller chance of being brutally
raped, beaten, and murdered at the NA meating. Not to mention he'll
probably find less drugs there.
For arguments sake, lets take a look at the possible harmfull effects
of drugs. With drugs there are mainly 2 things to worry about:
Addiction and Overdose. Addiction is treatable. Thats a fact, ask a
12 stepper. Overdose is also treatable, but would not be as much of a problem
if the FDA controlled illicit drugs in the same fasion as it does legal drugs.
This isn't to say that people dont OD on legal drugs. The difference
between a legal drug OD and an illigal drug OD is typically intention.
Anybody who has a fatal OD on legal drugs is probably a suicide.
The typpical fatal illicit OD is accidental. I think one of the main
resons for this is that there is no quality assurance for drugs like
heroin, meth, coke, LSD, ect. Not to mention sombody possibly cutting your LSD
with I dunno, lets say strichnine.I mean, sure the FDA is run by a bunch of
crooks, but I bet they have never used rat poison as a cut, but who knows,
I could be wrong.
I could be wrong because the American government poisons people in
Columbia every day by spraying herbacides in an effort to stop the production
of coca. From what I understand this spraying has been effective in killing
off more than just coca plants. It also kills legitimate crops such as corn
and soy. Apparently breathing these chemicales isn't that good for you either.
Not that the U.S. government cares. Just ask anybody that used to live
in the bakini islands back when the U.S. was testing nuklier bombs. That is,
ask anybody you can find still alive. Most of the people that were exposed
to the bomb testing have died from radiation poisoning. I think it's
interesting to note that the government mesures radiation in somthing
it likes to call sunshine units. Euphimisms rock!
Well, I think Im done ranting for now. But dont worry, you havn't heard
the last of me!
