I just ordered a hydro clone machine. Now I am a dirt grower so I don't know what to put into my new clone machine. Can you help me out! Thanks!

Small cute and fuzzy.
Pet lizard?

A pile of dirt?

Cheese. Put some cheese in it. Cheese is good!

I made hydro cloner once, inside it I had a good strong air pump, which I put in well water containing hydrogen peroxide, sorry can't remember the strength, if you place the clones so the are just a breath above the water, then have the air pump set on a timer to come on and off for 15 min at a time, this causes your cuttings to root faster than having them directly in the water, when transplanting you must make sure that all roots are covered with no air pockets around roots, the air pockets will cause root to rot, you don't have to pack just make sure that no large gaps are around the roots.
I found this way works 100%, I should still be using it, but the one I made is too big, so need to make a smaller one for myself again

Thanks for the info...just one thing, should the cheese be grated or cubed? Also, clear head...do I need to switch to gel instead of powder cloning stuff?

when I did it this way, I did not use any rooting agents at all, just like putting it in a pop can on the window sill, but will root much faster since it has to search for water when air pump is off

I use a cloning gel on the stems and plain water in my units.

Powders work ok too! Just don't turn on the cloner till the powder has been on the stem for at least 3 hours....then it's switch on and go. Hormones aren't a requirement for cloners but they help, especially if you have had to root strains like some sativas.

I also spray each clone with MycoStop to innoculate it from mold and mildew.
Zero rotten clones....

there is no reason not to just use the hydro cloner as you would normally and then plant the clones in soil when they have roots.

That was my plan. I just have never done anything with hydro but thought cloning that way might be a better way to go. Thanks for all ya's help!
