So I put my plants under 12/12 to see sex and then I Qlone.
But it's been a while, so after sex shows, how long should I keep it in veg before Qloning?
Now this is a Northern Berry X Lifesaver that took almost a week and a half to show, but then in a day had this little furry flower flurry. I need to qlone this plant, don't want to wait for reveg. I put it back into veg 2 - 3 days ago.
Can I go ahead and Qlone it now, or did I need to wait longer? I believe that this will be an intense plant.
Anyway, I have to run back over there, and if I can Qlone it now, I want to do it tonight. So, I await your response.
Thanks,
Buddy

I,m not xpert but I took the cuttings as soon as I new they were female then put the cuttings in hormones and put in 24/7 till they rooted left the mom in 12/12 only lost 1 to not rooting out of 8 but then someone stole the rest but they rooted good anyway so do it now take as many as possible then flower on

Buddy, you can clone a plant almost anytime. I usually wait until the plant is showing alternating branching so I know its old enough. I clone the lot I am growing, then put the mature plants into flowering light. As the sex becomes apparent I remove the male clones I made and keep the females. Takes a bit of space, but insures you don't have to reveg any plants.

You can toss them into cloning without the veg. period.
green girl does what I do .... cloning for sex :) ... That way no production plants get stressed...just take a cut or two from each plant, label and hit them with 12/12. No revegging required.

yes..this is what i would do..veg for 4 weeks..gives the plant time to grow..then i put into flower..after about 10 days you will see males clearly and the ladys should be popping out..in this time..12/12 they shoot up and out,,once you see the ladys..take 4 clones from every plant or less and let the mum keep going
that way you get a wee bit of weed in aswell..now that you have taken the clones..let them root..once clones have roots..you can put into flower right away..but i find it best to let them veg for 3 weeks..in that time you can take a clone from them..cloneing from a clone
that way you can keep that strain going in your room for a long time ..or even just keep one clone in veg as a mum..but only thing i will tell you is that what your looking for is plants that look strong..grew fast..and came into flower first..that way you will keep that treat..
if you need me bro am here and any thing i know you will soon find out..now please tell me what your lights..and how are we going to grow theses clones..i can keep you right..i have some clones in just plain water..no ait stones..notting..only thing you have to do is change the water every other day..if you want will do it with pics so you can follow me..even have plant ready to clone..so from the very start.........only if you want to ;)

Hey nooely,
Thanks.
This is my first time back indoors in about 5 years or so. And the things you forget to remember until you've done them and then remember, damn, that's not right! :)
What I was doing with my clones was to cut them, take of the lowest set of leaves, put the stem under water and cut at an angle, dip in the rooting hormone and into the rockwool. I'd put them into a plastic container with another one inverted over it and put them under two 20 W floru's and in a week - week and a half, I'd have roots. I'd put them into plain water and not change it. I only lost one and that one was really doomed from the start. It was from a sickly plant that I was trying to keep going.
Now I'm out of rockwool, so I do the same process, but instead of putting them into the rockwool, I have these little plastic containers that drinkable yougurt came in. I fill them with water up to the very top, cover it tight with plastic wrap and tie it on, then I cover the top of the plastic wrap with masking tape to keep the light out and poke a hole in it and place the clone in there and then I cut the top half off of a water bottle and turn the bottom half upside down over the whole thing. I just did one as a test yesterday, so we'll see. I just spent the better part of the day rebuilding my flower cabinet (Second time in two days!) and I'm beat. I'll start a thread sometime tomorrow and give you all an update. This one I believe is a keeper. I was very confidant in my last one until everything started melting when I rehung my light. I couldn't stand the worry that was invading my brain over it, so I redid it twice. Tomorrow or the next day I have to rebuild a veg cabinet. But now I'm happy and tired. Very tired, again.
But I will always take all of the advice that I can get, I'm good like that!
Thanks!

Buddy, just a note. it is not too late to take cuttings from you nbxls now but if they have fuzzy heads there WILL be some degree of reveg going on at the tops of the cuttins when they start to grow again. same with the adult. if you put it back into veg it is going to have "reveg style" growth for awhile before it starts looking like a normal healthy veg plant again. you are probably better of taking a few cuttings and then just flowering the mother now. <just my 2 cents after watching many such cuttings develop.>

mate your right about every thing there..but the only thing with the water..you need to change it every other day..you dony need lower lights..clones dont suffer or go into shock..and you dont need a cover them...i will take some pics to show you mine

ok buddy ,,,hope this helps you out..
pic 1...female plant showing her sex..this is a good time to pick a good big stronge looking mum
pic 2...take 4 of the lowest branches and use them as clones...now a this stage you can let the mum keep going into flower or put her back into veg..its time to do that now
pic 3...i use this tub and lid..all i do is burn holes in the lid and fill with water
pic 4...this is the size hole i use..its that easy and the good thing is..they dont need any lids or lower lights..just fill with plain tape water every other day

pic 1...once you see this yellowing your clones are doing there thing..this is a good sigh as it means your clones are eating themselfs.
pic 2...this is how they look on there 7 day and things are looking a bit of a mess but just watch them take of
pic 3...in this pic what looks like a salt build on the wee clone is infact the start of the roots bursting out in seach of food
pic 4...i think you mite see the wee tiny root coming out..if you can you know its working for you
give them a few days to grow about a inc long roots and then move them or you can put them in bubblers..anything..and if you want to speed things up a wee bit..use an air stone..that way you dont need to change water..hope this helps as it get me near to 100% suss..or just use them clonens in rockwool but you have all that hassel of looking after them...watering them..keeping temp right..trust me..this is hassel free..cut and forget :D

Nice Nooely. Thanks.
But how do you get them out of the lid without ripping the roots?
That's why I went with plastic wrap, when they're rooted and can just rip the wrap.
Tell me, because I have a lot of those plastic containers.
Thanks

cut it open with sharp blade..thats why you see back tape..i have used it so many times trowing away lids was silly.so now i just tape the cuts closed ontill i need to open up for roots
sorry my bo bo...should have said

there are 2 other ways/I didn't mention to you, buddy...if you are going to do the little cup 'thing, then you can use perlite and stick the clone in that after rooting hormones, or I have just recently cloned directly into hydroton/3.75 netpots after dipping into rooting hormone...no further transplant necessary!
You did say you were going hydro, didn't you? but, either way, I personally, don't use a dome.

you can clone anytime, you can clone a bud from a plant the day you harvest; i have done it... it's much easier to get them rooted if you take clone in the first 3-4 weeks after it goes in the bud, no need for it to be in veg... just my 2 cents :D

"it's much easier to get them rooted if you take clone in the first 3-4 weeks after it goes in the bud"---- clarification: i mean it roots easier than if you were to take it after the 4 weeks in bud, not that it roots easier in general... sorry if im confusing anyone, i'm borderline confusing myself...
what i'm saying is that if you were going to clone a budding plant, it's best to do it in the first four weeks, but it's IS possible up to the day of harvest...

Maybe some Indica's will root that far into flower...but I doubt any sativas would.
They would likely rot long before they could convert and root.
I have seen the results of cloning so far into flowering....by some "experts" at that. Not good.
What did you manage to clone sucessfully near "day of harvest"? I'm curious.

Maybe some Indica's will root that far into flower...but I doubt any sativas would.I had a hawaiian sativa from seed that I tried to clone several times. I was able to keep the cuttings alive for 2 months in a bubbler, but the thing would never root. It also took forever to mature, so no more worrying about that plant - too impatient - although it was a really good end product.

That's right...a cutting has to go thru tremendous stress to form roots. Even MORE stress to convert from flowering to vegatative growth..
Homones and Auxins get out of balance, growth is stunted, plants can "shut down" and the cut gets sickly....an opportunity for rot and infection. Indica's in general are much easier to "stab n grow" than sats.

i have done it with magicbud, NLxA, she-rah, and i have cloned NB from a week befor harvest too... :) i have afew clones going right now that were cloned late, here are some pics (the image names label them)

I've heard that with an areoponic setup you can get most things to clones.
I want one, but for cloning Bamboo. I have two giant Bamboo plants in the yard.
I'm statrting cuttings now so I can have some ready for the spring. They take a long time to root.
Anyway, I am seriously considering going hydroponic. I just have to see what I can find and how to best set it up. I have and old Washing Machine Water Pump somewhere, that would be excellent for a flood and drain, so I have to find it. I also have to locate a few other components, such as a growing medium, I have to figure out what I can use. Something will come up, it always does.
Thanks all
