I love gardening and my greatest success was feeding my family something from the garden every day for eight months straight. I live alone now and get to send Dr.Seuss books to my first Grandson.

I would really like to see a nature special on worms. I hear that there are some in South America that are huge, close to a couple of feet long. Once upon a time I saw Moby rise from the deep when I was weeding the tomatoes and his rainbow hide still shines for me to this day.

I love good shows and one of my favorite hobbies is making them better. yea, the people don't need my help (anymore) but it just isn't in me throw away a good hobby. I have been considering how to approach the Discovery Channel on the idea of a worm cam for Moby.

A micro cam to watch compost being made would be worth trying too.

I have been appalled by the lack of comprehensive gardening information and have recently come to understand why there isn't any around. Typing takes a long time and re-writing usually happens a few times just as a matter of course and then we start to edit. If one goes searching for information, it is quite easy to be gone for a week or so if you permit yourself. Computer malfunctions and the part about occasionally having to sleep or such.

details, details

~breed seeds for birdfeeders too~

One amazing detail has been the discovery that no matter how much I think I know or hope for, Yahoo has at least one more surprise and they are real and important things too.

I am a fan of experimenting whenever possible and have many pages of notes for ideas about my future grows. I honestly believe we are capable of anything and that we can expect the same from our gardens.

Racemation blew my mind when I looked it up in the dictionary.

{Hi Dad!}

Happyplant, woe unto me for spreading mis(sing)information (but la la la, they might be in South America!?), I thought the psychedelic frogs were from South America too (they're from Arizona actually) maybe I have a fixation on that place; I hear the stars are worth seeing. and finally I've seen the story on the huge worms in Australia. You're right about the fish stories possible with Moby (http://www.oregonlive.com/news/oregonian/index.ssf?/news/oregonian/01/03/lc_61great30.frame). I met him in California in '94 (he says it's gonna be an early Spring this year).
mmm, growing bud on lily scented castings
and speaking of pissst
pass teh word for CAUTION- diatomateous earth can kill earthworms (and it's second main ingredient is aluminum). DE scrapes soft bodies (and inflicts lethal injuries on smaller ones), that's why they use it as a commercial additive to feed for animals, it kills intestinal parasites (does it come thru in the manure sold in stores? ughh-!- and i don't know yet... anyone got the inside scoop?).

pflover, i'm grapeful for thy fruitful thought of purpLE CLUstErs! i've been interested in plants with similar growth habits to marijuana; brussel sprouts seemed like a good match today (cola covered in bulbous fruits). Using (borrowing) attributes from different sources interests me. When I came across "racemation" recently, it was defined as being (the) (a) process (in a plant) where light was turned left or right.

Yea for being able to control electromagnetic waves!

or "turning" aside oxidizing radicals..

or following them and retrieving my GreatGreatGreatGreatGrandma?

I think you mean "racemization".

Conversion of an optically active substance to an optically inactive substance. And yes, that's how plants do it. Raceme are the process "switches" in a plant that control it's action and reaction to various forms of radiation....including light.

It seems like a substantial medium to have at your disposal; in plants the process forms the proteins that are used to make DNA and such and that seems Really cool too.

But it was my psychonaught that loved the idea of controlling light.

btw, it kinda seems that chloroplasts are alive (called cyanobacteria).

Everyday it seems like there is cool stuff associated with gardening.

Do you think transferring chloroplasts into the plant would be helpful?

You can buy chlorophyll over the internet. and i heard today a little about phytochromes<that name is color-like as is cyan and chlorophyll

anyway>
these phytochromes, they also "turn" (off or on, idk which) at 660nm but then they turn
(again, idk which, on or off)
at 730nm

and another kind does it at 750nm?

gardening is getting more and more interesting everyday

and Zephyrous miracles quilt the fabrics of fair clouds everywhere
