Britain Snuffs Marijuana for Pain Control

London, England, May. 27 (UPI) -- Britain's Court of Appeal Thursday rejected legalizing marijuana for the relief of chronic pain.

The three-judge panel in London upheld the 1971 Misuse of Drugs Act, and said any pain-relieving benefits perceived or suggested were outweighed by the "disbenefits" of its use.

The Telegraph said the judges rejected testimony cannabis was more effective than conventional forms of pain relief and did not have the potentially serious and life-threatening side-effects of alternative treatments.

The ruling also overturned the acquittal of a Welsh man who had been charged with possession with intent to supply marijuana to victims of serious and painful medical conditions.

I fear it may soon be time to go "underground" in this country also, we are slowly but surely creeping up on the 2008 deadline that "Hell Canada" has proposed they would stop issuing personal production licenceses.

I for one am sick of this.. and I am increasingly having notions that if "they" want to keep calling this a "war on drugs"... sooner rather than later it will be just that a "WAR" one with REAL physical cassulties. To date the genuine medicinal user has reacted fairly benign when assaulted by the police in this on going WAR. I can envision a day when this is no longer so.. I fully believe that "force will be met by force" before we will have justice.

It's a shame.. life could be so much easier if our politicians and law makers would just shut up long enough to hear what the majority of the "PLANET" is saying, globally .. marijuana is seen by "the masses" as an acceptable drug.

the US gov is pressuring the world right now by threatening labeling countries with liberal drug laws as "terorrist states". You gotta remember if your covering up that its really Saudie Oil-Money that really supports terrorism then you gotta blame something like drugs. and dont you know if Afghanastan grows poppies Bush thinks thats where marijuana comes from :eek: the freakin idiot
