please check out this thread, look for other goes of mine for exampes of how to do this. anyway the type of plant does not matter so much. how you grow it does. ;)

my 1st rule is the strain must work on the symptoms of arthritis.
next I must have read at least 3 good med smoke reports on it. then I look at the plants and although height isn't an issue it is important for the indoor grower. another is smell, it must be fairly low odour. after that anything goes.
I find for myself that a 50/50 mix of indica and sativa does the best.
I don't get relief from mj the way my friends do. I have tried well over 1000 strains to date and none have lasted more than a month before my tolerance killed it off. I put this in here because some people think there is the holy grail out there if they just plant enough. some levels of pain interfere with the receptors and block any head effect.
I have smoked 13 bowls of og kush in 3 hrs. and nothing. the same stuff put my friend on the floor for 3 hrs after 1 bowl, lol. rookie.
anywho, ask around, find someone with the same illness and pick thier brains. you can use the search function to find the right threads.
and if you're a rec user then I just wasted a bunch pixels, lol.

When you say 3 feet is it a total of 3 feet or just the space under your light is 3feet?

Hi,
Is it Bill Yum or Billy Um?
Anyway, I see that you're growing for your friend that's sick and in pain.
As HP pointed out, a lot about what strain you decided to grow will be determined by what's wrong with your friend. Now if you only have 3 feet total headspace, and your lights are hanging down into that 3 feet, well, you may want to try and setup in another spot. Take it from me, in a space that small, you will have plenty of issues to overcome to create a space when your plants can be happy and grow well and give you some sort of Meds.
So I guess the first thing is, what's your friends condition, we can better help to give you choices if we know that.
Thanks

listen to buddyh. a grow spot of less than 3 ft is looking for trouble. yes you can raise lowryder inside a pc box, but you won't get a quality plant. try to get at least 3 ft of grow space under the lights and maintain 50 watts/sq ft. so if the floor space is 4 ft x 3 ft = 12 sq ft x 50watts = 600watt bulb hps or metal halide. you can get high powered compact flourescent too. I used those for all my vegging and mothers and males.

Yeah, I was having all sort of problems with my plants when I had a smaller grow space. The only thing that helped was to re-design it so it was slightly bigger, with more head room and really thinking about the heat issue and having a few different stragities (SP?) for dealing with it.
Now I spend more time growing and less time trying to fix issues that all boiled down to, to small of a space for my ambitions. Now I have more time for other things and I don't feel the need to constantly be at the grow space fiddling with things and when I have problems, I can deal with them in a more relaxed manner and give each fix time to work and see results instead of always being in panic 'I'm losing my grow' Mode.
