I hope all is well today with you and yours….

I have had a few PM’s about how I do my DWC….I use a “witches hat” with a 4 inch cube and some clay pebbles to fill in the spaces….i drill 2 holes on opposite sides of the witches hat and insert the ¼ inch air tube and on the end of that 2 airstones….i use a double air pump from the hydro store, usually about 15 bux, the witches hat is usually 7 bux…I then put the planter in a small bucket with the nutes and stones bubblin 24/7…now I keep just enough water in it to the bottom of the planter and hand feed the cube from the top 3 times a day with a few cups of the same nutes in the bucket till its totally wet, like an ebb and flow principle till roots start makin there way thru the planter…I don’t like to submerge the cube cause in the past it rotted the base of the plant and it died…keep it wet….once some substantial roots are dangling in the water you no longer have to top feed the plant, the roots will now do all the work…just keep the nute level up….now when there is a nice rootball forming which will take a couple weeks, now you can take it to the next size bucket…now, bigger bucket, a little more nutes to keep that level to the bottom of the planter, at this point the roots will now start to take off, again, once the roots are now a massive ball eatin around a quart a day, time to go into the 5 gal pail, ( 4 bux), and hook up to the reservoir, (10 gal trash can, 10 bux)….i got an aquarium powerhead, 225 gals an hour usually around 29 bux, i zip tie a piece of nylon stocking to the intake on the powerhead to keep root pieces from floatin and cloggin it up, remember to clean that off periodically if you dont see the water circulatin and then hook up to a connecter with a small piece of hose to circulate the water, the connector you should be able to get at the hydro store, this type has an inside male hose hookup that fits the black ½ inch hose and as you see I got the open/close line connectors on the 5 gal pail so I can regulate the water flow, about a quarter turn will keep 3 gals in the bucket…with this particular set up I will use 6 gals., (3 in the bucket, 3 in the res)…..

NOW..its important before ya cut your holes in the reservoir…fill it with 3 gals…get ya a measuring stick and mark where three gals are on the stick, then add 3 more gals.. and that will give ya the 6 gal mark….now cut the holes and get it put together….

At this point she should be eatin a half gallon a day…when the lights come on, check the water level to see how much water is gone…..very simple..measure the ppm/tds…lets say you keep a ppm of 1200, (just for example)…if the reading is 1600, that means she ate a gal of water, all ya have to do is add water to bring the reading back to 1200…lets say the reading is 900, that means she ate a half gal of food, so mix up some nutes and add a ½ gal to start , then take a reading to see where your at, then add more to get back to 1200….lets say ya add too much and its around 1350…add a little water …see how ya do that...she will eat when she is hungry or she will drink when she is thirsty....amazing, really.

After all that, now we check the ph, shut off the air pumps and powerhead, let it sit for a couple minutes, now take the ph reading and adjust it..i usually keep mine around 6.1…between 5.8 and 6.5 and your ok…turn the pumps back on , let it circulate for about 10 minutes, in the meantime, check the gurl, see how she is doin, then turn off the pumps and check the ph again…it should be ok….turn shit back on and your done…all this shouldn’t take but 10 to 15 minutes…..your done, go do what ya want she will be ok till the next day….

Water changes…. shut off the powerhead and air pumps…this, I want to figure out a better way to do but for now, I use the small buckets and bail what I can out of the res and shut off the valves on the 5 gal bucket, I prop it up so the water runs back to the res and finish takin the water out….then I use 6 gals of ph balanced water with some Superthrive for 24 hours…then change again with fresh nutes….i water change 2 times in veg and bloom.

This is what works in my little corner of the world, and I yield heavy….hope it helps
