    I have read the rules.
    My trip to Hempfest.
This was my first-ever flight. I left Portland Maine at 6:15 a.m. I was awed by the beauty. The sky was beautiful, clouds looked like puffy cotton balls. I had never looked down on clouds before! Marco picked me up at the airport in Toronto. We traveled to his home, taking a few detours that showed me a bit of his childhood, paper route, schools etc.
Picked up the TY banner for hempfest and we were off. Spent the night at Marco's beautiful home and left at 5:00 a.m. for the event.
The ride was great, little traffic, made good time. I was fascinated by the
inukshuks(rock formations) all along the way.
Set up the TY booth, next to Laplaya Glass. Got to watch beautiful glass creations being made all weekend. Sold a lot of TY gear, sweatshirts, tees, skull caps, magazines. Spoke to many interesting people
    about medical marijuana.

I met many TYers. Soulmates Al&Robbin were kind enough to share their tent with me. I also got to meet & hug Mamahawk6,Pothead Pete and Sabby, clearheadc,Raton, Duck,Twistaspliff, Lady Di, Greengirl and more!!!
Great bands at night. 4:20 smokeouts (every 4:20) Also a bubblehash demo.
Approx 1300 people..Have NEVER seen so many, joints, bongs, bowls, volcanos, and mmj edibles in my life. YUMMY!!!
Had the time of my life..
Great people, conversation, canna goodies, music & more
Thanx to all who made it possible.

It was a good summer, easier to say now, looking back on it. Problems always look less drastic when they're gone.
There was one exciting event, or chain of events would better describe it. I helped a good friend obtain his federal exemption. Was a rollercoaster ride with Health Canada, they always take so long to do anything. But what do you expect, it is the summer holidays, and all the school kids and government employees are off. If my friend hadn't called Susan Russell (Manager of the Marihuana Medical Access Division) I'm sure we would have had to wait longer.
I say we, since I now possess my Designated Person Production Licence and will be growing my friend's medicine. One year licence renewed annually, maybe we should file our renewal forms soon, it takes em so long to process.

    I have read the rules.

So there I found myself, in the parking lot of the doctors office. I had just found out I was pretty sick and was feeling the weight of the world on my shoulders. It started to rain and the Radiohead album Kid A came on at a soft volume through my car stereo.
A thought dawned on me with the patter of the rain against my sunroof synchronizing with the music: Life is to be lived. Each day should be lived to it's fullest extent.
I started up my car in the parking lot and drove north. My favorite band was playing a festival up about 6 hours away and I had written it off due to my illness. Screw it I thought, I found the first highway sign that said north and took it. I had no maps, about $50 in my pocket and no idea of where this festival was aside from the town name and state.
About 2 hours into the drive I found an exit for a familiar highway, a highway I knew would go over the New York border and to upstate NY. I crossed the border and kept driving until I ran out of gas an hour later. I filled up and then I only had about $20 left. I asked the kind gentleman behind the counter to point me in the right direction of a small town. To my great luck he had heard of it and told me to take exit 413 and to follow that highway for about 60 more miles. He told me that I would see signs from there.
I got in my car and drove, trying to let the bad news I had received exit my thought process. It was turning to night now and I had about 2 hours to find my way to the festival to catch the headlining band.
After some lucky guesses on turns I finally found my way to the festival grounds with no maps or directions. $80 tickets? I parked my car outside of their parking lot on a rural road and walked up. I approached the kind sir that was taking money for entry and when he turned around I saw it was Steve, someone I had gone to college with 6 years ago! I hugged Steve and he let me in gratis. I thanked him and ran towards the stage, the band had taken the stage and I heard the opening notes ringing out through the crisp night sky. I had made it with not a second to spare.

In 420 words, here is my summer of 2006, feel my heat:

The most exciting and memorable events which occured this summer have been a journey that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

This summer I was privaladged enough to be offered a job working on the front lines for the battle in legalizing cannabis for medical patients in the United States. And of course without hesitation I accepted the position regardless of the possible legal implications I could face from our federal government.

I began work in a medical dispencary late in the month of May. It just so happened to be the begining of a complete overhaul and remodeling of that particular location. Durring this time I was assisting the vast majority of our patients right from the get go as the others worked to wrap up the renewal process. It was then that I found the true joy that this God given plant brings, the ability to make a positive difference in a persons life with a simple plant. Not a short and sweet smile from a rose on valentines day, but a long lasting theraputic relief which lightens the spirits and brightens the faces of real people in real pain. And that is one thing that I was all too familiar with.

June marked the first month of my personal efforts in making a difference in these patients lives. It also was the two year point from when I had been a victim of violence, landing a weeks stay in the hospitol in June of 2004. I was in pain, real pain. Two broken eye sockets, broken cheeck bone, broken upper jaw, broken nose, split chin, eyebrows, eyelids, and needless to say a broken spirit. It would take these two years and seven surgeries to put my face back together again. A titanium mesh eye socket, two steel plates, and ten screws is the hardware which now holds me in one piece. It was these experiences that helped me to really connect with my patients on that same level, as a fellow patient.

As July came about I was really starting to express my enthusiasm for my new found occupation. I was learning alot about how vast and far reaching the medicinal effects were through the numerous ailments it helped to aleviate. And then it all seemed to come to a screeching halt, and coincidentally, this is where you will feel the heat of my summer. With guns drawn and plenty of backup, the DEA had come to seize everything as evidence for their war on drugs. Now my patients are without medicine.

By far, my most exciting adventure of the summer was attending the Ty family reunion at Robbin and Al's.
It's the steak! I can't keep my mind off the steak! You could cut through it with a butterknife. As a matter of fact, we used plastic knives!
I was sitting beside Marco and that was a laugh as he called me his pet name often.
I got to meet Jb and also Pixie.
It was fun watching people swim in the pool and the music was excellent.
Even the little 'monster' was having fun. LOL. And of course he gravitated towards me to have fun and jump up on me and lick me all over.
I enjoyed the fact that there were no games this year as I think that it would have really detracted from getting to know each other.
JB won a Volcano! How's that for great prizes? I won two books! EVERYONE won something!!! how unheard of. It was great.
Man, I would love to relive that day. It was a good day for it and the canopy made the sun bearable. It made it 'cozy' even.
Yup, definitely my event of the season.
