Thumbs up FREE Marijuana, is it US wide?

Now that I have your attention, let me tell you what I know, which is very little.
I probably should not even be asking this on an open forum, but it is not me that is involved in this so I guess it is ok.
I have a friend who would sometimes get some awesome reefer, but seldom would he smoke much with us.
One day, he got a little drunk and was telling me about it. He gets free reefer from somewhere. He says he was asked why he did not smoke reefer for his chronic pain by someone he really did not know. He said he told them that there was not any weed worth smoking available to him, but he would should he find something worth the money.
This guy told him to be patient and he would be made happy. He forgot about it until this guy came and told him to watch his local paper for such and such. When he sees that, he goes to a location and picks up some of the best pot anyone has ever smoked. Sure enough, he found the item that was in the paper and went and looked and there was a little less then an ounce of some GREAT reefer. This has been going on for over a year now.
Does anyone know or heard of this before? This person has never lied to me before, so I believe him.
He says he never sees anyone, only sees the thing in his local paper and goes and picks it up.
They told him not to talk about it, not to try to figure it out, and definitely not to sell, give or in anyway dump the stuff other then flushing it and notifying them via the paper that you do not need or want it anymore.
Has anyone else heard of this or anything like it? I think it is a great way to help people who are outside the medical marijuana states.
I am sure there is more to it then this, but this is what he told me. Could it be true? Are there really people out there with this kind of compassion for us?
All I can say is Bless them, and bless their hearts. What a great way to show love to your fellow sufferers.

that sounds pretty awesome... but is there a chance your friend is growing and doesn't want anyone to know?

It would be great if there was some kind of system to connect sick people with caregivers (even if they are paying for their meds) in non-MMJ states

I know several sick people that get their meds each month for no charge.
Thank God we don't get all the Government we pay for!

I would be sunk if not with help from my friends. The Medical Marijuana Movement is REAL and not just words to some, or a way to make money.
There are many good people that help others with either cheap or free meds.

I know a guy that used to help folks all over Canada AND the U.S.
Some of them at NO CHARGE, those that could pay paid very little, barely covering the cost of shipping,
So I would have no problem believing the story because I've seen it done personally,

But based on what happened to him, you should keep your story to yourself, otherwise word of such good deeds gets around and may bring them to an end....

I know that guy you are talking about In The Wind, didn't he used to help the poor and sick with free or very reasonable quality meds and free beans and the help to grow them?. I sure hope the government doesn't slap him around any, seems like he is a nice guy.

I would love to turn the tables and help some other sufferers down the road but right now in my situation I'd probably be doing more begging than anything else when it comes to that. And I know a lot of us are in the same boat, so it's always a challenge to keep things working for everyone's best interest. A lot has had to change around TY over the past few years because of that, all for the better really, but it's been a real challenge for many people to adapt. I've seen far too many goodbye messages lately relating to people who are struggling just to keep their own heads above water, no less participate in the board.

Their hearts and minds are with us but it's still frustrating.

I for one know that right now I could use all the help I could get. Normally I am very gung-ho in trying to contribute to a million different projects, and I have all these ambitious ideas for writing in TY Mag beyond just the HomeBox XL review that is planned for #6....but all I see lately is my medication costs going up and up, finding good coverage is ridiculously difficult in my situation (being self employed really screws the pooch with many govt orgs and then private stuff is a sprawling minefield; but i digress), and of course nobody is jumping our of their skin to cover the cost of my cannabis medicine. I have to "protect" my doctor by not talking to her about it.

Hey, I'm all for the notion of hoping that there's someone out there compassionate enough to help me, sight unseen, just because of some words I might be able to write them on my computer or say over a phone or whatever. But I'm a skeptical person at this point & the last thing I want to see is any good, genuinely suffering medicinal users get suckered in any way.

Exactly what I'm talking about. It seems like no good deed goes unpunished.

I am so proud of the people who stand up and participate publicly, using their own names and identities, in projects like TY Mag, this site, and other pro-responsible-use efforts. I'm terrified out of my mind to do anything to hurt my family, the idea of putting my poor wife who has already been traumatized by so many horrors over the past decade, and my children as well, through the stress of legal trouble or even having to worry about legal trouble......

Anyhow, if there's someone out there doing this for med users in such an anonymous, generous fashion, then great. Kudos galore to them and anyone else out there like them. But I've never seen anything like this on an organized scale in New England.
