Im not sure of the direct health related problems... but i do know that breathing in promix dust is very harmful to your lungs... mold issues and humidity issues may be an issues in your bedroom inless you make a tent or grow box.. in which case you could very well be easy.. but open growing it wouldnt be advised i dont think..

maybe someone with a bit more experience will be able to help more..

It's been a long time since I have had little ones in the house, but I would think you would have to close the room off to them when they were awake. There is also the light issue of maintaining a certain amount of complete darkness in the room. I know when my son was two, he loved to make stew with leaves and dirt.

Are you just watering them and taking care of them in you bedroom? Do you mix all you soil together out of your bedroom? What kind of Ferts are you using. Keep those away from the kids. I have a couple friends that have grows close and in the bedroom with children in the house. I dont see any problem in it as long as you treat the grow as something for you or educate the kid to stay away. (the bulb is hot dont wanna be playing around the garden)

IMO if you have it in your closet.....you mix everything in the garage or outside. SO you have minimul dust if any. The light should have a reflector on it so you cant just stare at the light. Maybe if possible get a sulpur burner and a filter for the room. Little more money but you wont have any mold or smell. Just my thoughts. Or lastingplanet sells teatree oil that kills mold in the air. Thats another good way to help with mold.

i don't think it's anything more than any other houseplants that are around. not a big deal as far as i'm concerned.

In her hugely complete book on herbal medicine and medicinal plant cultivation, A COMPLETE HERBAL, published in the 1930's i believe, Mrs. M. Grieves says that a person should definitely NOT sleep in a field of cannabis used for hashish production. I belive she is refferring to overexposure to volatile essential oils and resins which evapourate from cannabis 24 hours a day in varying amounts during its life cycle. These volatiles are absorbed through the lungs and skin.

Assuming that your cannabis plants in the closet are much like healthy, low toxicity house plants in a child's room, or like a child playing in a healthy outdoor organic garden:
like many things this is a matter of concentration, dosage, toxicity and sensitivity to the substances we are interested in.

Hanging a small bunch of Lavender in a bedroom might be ok or even beneficial for some people. But 100 bunches might be a little overwhelming.

I would suggest that in todays toxic world, it would be best to limit a childs exposure to volatiles, unless required for medical treatment.

I think you have options, ventillation, switch sleeping arrangents, let a friend finish the plants, charcoal filters, etc. What are you doing for closet ventillation now? Does the bedroom smell like bud?

I think you will be fine with the little garden in the closet as long as the door locks. I grow in my closet.

while i would not reccomend sleeping in a room with 50 or 100 plants i see no difficulty in having a couple plants in a closet.

I know i am new here but god forbid c.a.s. ever found out you were growing in the same room your children are sleeping in. This is a seperate issue to health but to me needs attention. Do not tell or show anyone not even fellow pot smokers . When it comes to children an pot C.A.S. can be very demeening an hard on honest decent mothers. If you could I would move them away from the grow area if possible better safe than sorry if not be as stealth as possible PEACE AN POT

ya, i know where your coming from there pete.
i figure the fans would keep me awake.
too many tho some would argue that the humidity or something else could be too much.
depends where ya live i suppose. i live in a rainforest where the humidity is naturally quite high, same with temps and what not.
ah well, live where ya can, enjoy, love one another, cause no harm.

growing in your bedroom definately has drawbacks(lights, heat, noise, bugs...) but I did it for over 20 years. Last year when Ry moved to China a bedroom opened up for the girls

    Hey Hillgurl.

    A couple ideas for you.

First, your question about the kids. I would have to agree that unless you are a legal grower, and possibly even then, the child services would be very very displeased and it might constitute having your children taken away. Where I live it surely would! So, I am glad to hear that you are moving her out into another room.

I would suggest putting a lock on the door. Not a cheap bathroom type lock, but a real lock with a key. Kids get curious really quickly, even when young they want to go exploring and such...

Regarding your plants. You said they are sickly, and then went on to say tou haven't used any ferts and they are a foot tall. If they are that large it is surely time to fertilize, unless you planted in a medium that had a reasonable amount of nutrients to start with.

Let me know what they are planted in and we will see if we can get them well.

    Be safe

    Default Hello!

Make sure your room is well ventilated and your fans are as quiet as possible. Fan/ballast noise WILL drive you freaking crazy and paranoid.

Also, sometimes the smell wakes you up in the middle of the night while having nightmares of acrid odors sipping out...

I would sleep with one or two moms (no more than 2 feet tall each) and no more.

    Best wishes!

    Smile Livingroom grow shot from....

a long long time ago....he he!! Boy it got hot in there.....like a sauna...he he...but the meds were good except for the mouldy colas I would wake up to......like phlegm....just gross as hell because of the drop at night in temps and the condensation. Be sure and keep plenty of airflow going all night and your plants will be fine.
