It is with deepest regret and a very heavy heart that I write to you this morning. My brother "John" has passed on at 23:50 hrs on the 19th of December. I find myself at a loss for words. Our dear brother "PainPal" was attended last evening and for the last three days by some of his closest family and friends. My brother John fought the good fight! It is one of the saddest days of my life. He did his level best to hold on until his son from the prairies was able to fly in to see him. I'm afraid that was beyond even this extraordinary man's abilities.
I spoke closely into my brother’s ear, knowing that technically he couldn't hear me... in my heart I KNOW he DID hear and understand me! I told him how much he will be missed by every life that he has touched. Our brother had a heart that was like none other, he brought out the very best in everyone.
I was fortunate to be together with John on his birthday a couple of years ago, I was honored to learn that he and I were going to appear live on CBC TV in Moncton on his birth date. What made this an extra special honor was the fact that this voyage was the furthest he had been from home in apparently 20 some years; we went to be on TV for a live call in show regarding Medical Marijuana. This was how strongly John felt about the cause of Medical Marijuana. Needless to say, when our one and ONLY "heckler" called in our brother John took charge of the situation and very calmly and coolly informed the caller where they were mistaken and educated them.
John is survived by a great and varied family, all of whom love him very dearly. I know that his newest addition to his fine family, his sweet little grandson made John's final month's on this mortal coil much more bearable and fulfilling. I among many others will make sure this sweet little boy knows just how great a man his Grandpa was!
My heart and soul goes out to our sister "Pickles", she more than ANY other knew John for the Kind and Great man that he was. PainPal and Pickles were the very first friends that my family and I found when we first moved here many years ago from Ontario. Our sister is surrounded by loving caring family and will be watched over by a great many Guardian Angles.
Please send your prayers and best thoughts for our fallen "Green Warrior" our friend and confidant John aka "PainPal" and his loving wife and family. He is on his way to be with his Dad right now... I expect that John just might be asking Jack were to go fishing... his Dad replying "relax, sit and talk for a while... we do have forever you know... the fish will wait".
Although we have been diminished in number by one... we are greater, each and every one of us ten fold for having known him!
I close in asking you to do me a favor, the next time you burn one… think of those that have gone before you. If you knew John… you would think of him I’m betting. He really was one in a million!
Rest Easy PainPal, zardoz has your back! Keep that surf rod and bait ready for me… when it’s my time I expect you to show where to find all them Bass! I love you brother!
