Promoting The Legal Use of Marijuana As Medicine To Help Save Lives


TORONTO * January 18, 2010 - On July 16 – 18, 2010 at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre, 225 Front Street West, Canada will make history as it hosts the first expo to promote and educate Canadians on the respectable and responsible use of marijuana as medicine. This one-of-a-kind event will have a facility-approved legal 4,600 square foot vapor lounge to accommodate attending medical marijuana patients who can feel comfortable and relaxed while medicating. There is absolutely no selling or distributing of marijuana permitted at the expo, patients are encouraged to bring their own medicine along with them, as vaporizers of all makes and models will be available for use in this area. Access to the Vapor Lounge will be limited to patients and caregivers. Media wishing to observe the vapor lounge must obtain permission before hand.

This is the first Canadian expo dedicated to exploring the medicinal use and benefits of the cannabis plant. If you or someone you know suffers from health issues, this is the show to visit for education and information about the variety of conditions that medical marijuana can treat. You can meet patients who are legally entitled to grow and consume marijuana as a medicine for a variety of conditions, and learn more about how to access the federal exemptee program for medical marijuana users.

This three-day event will feature several vendors from all over the world and will draw many well known international exhibitors who specialize in the medicinal use and production of high-quality medical marijuana. You are invited to visit exhibitors, attend workshops, showcases and seminars by top health care experts which is included with the price of admission. Obtain educational material and learn about different products and ways to use medicinal marijuana. Join patients, caregivers, health and legal professionals, distributors and manufacturers from the hemp, medicinal marijuana and alternative medicine industries from across North America and Europe.

Educational seminars by noted experts such as Dr. Bob Melamede, Dr. Juan Sanchez-Ramos, Mary Lynn Mathre, Michael Krawitz, Dr. Alexander Sumach plus many others. There will be music featuring Los Marijuanos, Rich Hardesty, Winter Springs, Sahra Indio, E.O.S., Chief Greenbud, Jet Baker, Paul Bullock and more. There will also be informative documentaries and short films screening at the John Bassett Theatre on subjects such as medical marijuana, activism, security and safety, alternative medicine, nutrition, hemp, cooking and more. We will also celebrate the 2010 Marijuana Music Award presentations, a Hemp Fashion Show from designer Ha Swesha and the Howard Dover Extravaganja Comedy Night.

Today in Canada over 4,000 people are legally growing and taking medicinal marijuana for various illnesses. If qualified, Health Canada grants these patients a certain amount of legal intake of cannabis for their ailments. Today patients take and grow cannabis to relieve the severe pain and physical symptoms of AIDS, arthritis, asthma, Crohn’s disease, depression and mental Illness, degenerative diseases, eating disorders, epilepsy, glaucoma, Hepatitis C, intractable breathlessness, migraines, MS, nausea, obstetric problems, chronic pain, phantom limb pain, post traumatic stress, tumors, cancer and other seriously debilitating diseases.

This life changing expo is being produced by publisher/educator Marco Renda, who is the founder of the largest medical marijuana website on the net called treatingyourself.com and who is the publisher and editor of Treating Yourself – The Alternative Medicine Journal, a journal magazine for patients by patients. Treatingyourself.com receives over four million hits per month. Marco has suffered from Hepatitis C for more than twenty years and became a federal exemptee in 2003. One day admission tickets with tax included are $15.00 in advance and $25.00 at the door.. A weekend admission pass in advance is $25.00 and $50.00 at the door, tax included. Please note that the hours of operation on Friday July 16 – 10 AM to 3PM for trade only and from 3PM to 8PM it will be open to the public, On Saturday, July 17 it is open to the public from 10AM to 8PM and continues to be open to the public on Sunday, July 18 from 10AM to 6PM.

Not that it is any of my business but that is some serious stuff.
I'm interested to know about the Australian Seedbank in Canada providing Canadian excemptees with seeds.
Does this mean you will be selling seeds at this event or that you are going to provide information about the seeds that can be ordered ?
I'm just curious as what to expect.

forwarding it on works great. within a few minutes i got a request for an interview. 2 days later two of us are involved in a long interview with the newspaper.

the reporter wanted to know lots. he asked questions about the TY Expo as well as the activism of MA. all and all it should be an interesting read when it gets published.

Think it could be the first of many shows for me. I am looking to get very involved at any level in the fight for "repeal of prohibition" or even "medicinal Reform".

I am a 35 year old Canadian living (as best I can) on the mediocre monies from the government for ODSP. Of course I've had the unllucky strike out with doctors to exchange my possiblly lethal prescriptions for the one substance that helps my ailments. I need to and want to get involved with the lonbbying and activist movement to make medicinal marijuana available and further still to allow people the freedom of not being alcoholic by having a recreational alternative to the destructive alcohol.

Please contact me. I'm an artist - visual *new media - flash - web - traditional paints, and pencils* educated in that field. Also I offer a brain that never shuts down with a go and get it done attitude. I offer anything to further the costs. I don't really care if it's Marco Renda; Marc Emery or Joe Nobody - I'm available for pot activism.

My mother has M.s. and a variety of ailments as do I; which would normally qualify one for medicinal MJ but in Southern Ontario and still roadblocked by Right Wing Conservative Doctors. Very very frustrating.

Even if I've nothing to offer the cause; any advice to be an active participant and justly so - please help my mother and I to remain 100% criminal record free. We have family abroad and cannot be arrested if we want to see family :P
