Police bust up large-scale grow op

Nine people are scheduled to appear in court today to face drug charges after police seized $15 million worth of pot in a bust of a growing operation in Tyendinaga Township, west of Kingston.

The suspects, men and women, all from Toronto, were arrested during the raid of the Shannon Road property Thursday.

Police found 15,000 pot plants and 600 pounds of buds.

The accused are charged with production of marijuana and possession for the purpose of trafficking.

The investigation is ongoing.

Toronto-area residents arrested after large grow-up bust near Napanee

OTTAWA — Nine people have been arrested after police uncovered a $15 million marijuana grow operation near Napanee, police said Monday.

Police found 15,000 plants and 600 pounds of marijuana buds near Shannon Road in Tyendinaga Township, said OPP Const. Chris Quenneville. The marijuana was being grown in a field in a fairly hidden area.

Nine people from the Toronto area were arrested when a search warrant was executed in Tyendinaga Township on Aug. 26, Quenneville said.

The accused were to appear at the Napanee Provincial Court on Tuesday for a bail hearing.

Charged with production of marijuana and possession for the purpose of trafficking are:
