Default Researching Epic bud: Chasing a White Whale

    Hello all,

We all have that 1 strain that we never forget. For me it was 12 years ago that I had the pleasure of trying East Coast Diesel. I've been trying to track this down to try and understand a) what i smoked back then and b) how close to the original I can get into my genetic inventory.

I've become very confused as everyone seems to have alternative stories, I'm hoping that I can post what I have found and one of our more knowledgable senior members can comment on what may be incorrect.

Buddy gets some seeds from some dank week at a G.Dead Concert. pops them in 91 and this becomes the groundwork for diesel. Some of these plants stay in the East Coast and are named various ECSD (excluding SOMA and any controversy regarding his line-up). It also went out west and became known as O.G. Kush.

This is where things get confusing for me, for example, you can add an O.G. to the title if you want, I get that acronym. But why call it Kush when it was a sativa.

This is where confusion arises for me as, when I think Kush, I think of Afghani and Pakistani indicas.

So now this has lead me to my current point where I am uncertain how to attain the truest most authentic genetic sampling of the original EPIC diesel I sampled a dozen years ago.

Please feel free add comments as I am trying to figure out this, every site I visit seems to have contradictory info (other than establishing that chemdawg91 seems to be the precursor).

Is Kush simply the term now used to refer to the thick smoke with that particular flavour? Based on what I understand now, it seems like west coast people are smoking hybrid sativas, not hybrid indicas. Not judging them, but if I have to buy O.G. Kush to get what I want, i want to make sure it's what I want and not actually a authentic afghanica (of which I have plenty of seed already in stock waiting to be germmed).
    Am I going in circles?

Lastly, if you can't comment, but have knowledge of a viable diesel strain, feel free to post.

    Thanks kindly

    /MNT

p.s. next grow report to be DNA Sour Diesel as I attempt to lock down my initial test strain based on advice from MMSW.

p.p.s. Tried Soma's NYCD and it is not what I am looking for (not saying it's better or worse, it's just not the overpowering fuel I was looking for).

    Default og kush vrs diesel

i have raised og kush and smoked NYCD as well as a few knockoff diesels and they are not the same gene pool fer sure fer sure lol
i found the og to be as close to perfect meds for me with osteoarthritis and green crack too.
instead of chasing the holy grail why don't you examine the chemical breakdown of any strain that you really liked and simply look to replace the same values in another hybrid, already created by someone else and saving you all that breeding, especially if its for medical. I don't have enough time left to create the perfect strains for me but I settle for 9.5
    not advice just babble lol
Hit them where it hurts, show them the scientific truth about marijuana, while debunking the lies.
